My bear baiting 2013

I have three friends that drew tags this year and I am baiting for them since they live down state. We will have a bear camp out on the National Forest. Usually they come up for the whitetail rut and gun season so this will be something different and adds to the fun this fall.
I will be filming so I hope I get something that makes good memories for them.

Leaving Friday for Ontario. Looks like its going to be pretty warm.

 

I had my IR cam set on video near one of my baits. There is some n ice bear there in daylight but one really nice one around midnight. Maybe he will change to daytime feeding when I add some other goodies.

Here is one we passed on Thursday. We have been seeing bears each night, well, one of the hunters has not seen a bear yet. Last night one of the guys got a shot but hit a tree.

I wish I had a place to hunt bears. My uncle lives in WI I should talk to him. Maybe I can draw a tag before I die of old age.

 

One of the guys got 'er done on Saturday, well Sunday morning. The hit was not perfect so we decided to wait until morning with good light. I located blood leading into a mossy wetlands and ten minutes later he had his bear. Bear recurve, cedar arrows, real turkey feathers and Wensel Woodsman heads.
