I swapped some Molle II straps and belt onto an Alice pack I got. Like them a lot. Haven't got a second set for my stand, mainly for two reasons. One, the straps I have on it are already padded, so it carries pretty nice. Two, I do end up leaving my run & gun sets out sometimes and I'd think that all that Molle gear hanging off it would stick out more if someone strolled by my stand.
Now I understand. I've been using a Badlands Monster pack for years now that I just put the stand on over and it works well and packs nicely for me. Just works better for me but I can see what you're doing now and why. An article I wrote years ago, doesn't show the stand on top but you can see how the pack sits and why it works well under the stand. Bowhunting Blog | Badlands Monster bow hunting fanny pack
Here is my new pack set up. Be doing a lot of spot and stalks and had a hard time with the spotting scope last year. And my bow will strap on the front. Can't wait to get out this summer..
Very nice adaptation, Fitz. I have many of the same pieces to that puzzle. I may have to try this technique out. Thank you sir.
Yeah, it'll help some of the twig/stand slap for sure. I did end up returning my Bowbat so I can get the Lost version next month. I can't wait to use this setup this Fall
Good concept Fitz . I am using a Sitka gear tool bucket , same concept. I find the covered stand and sticks quieter packing in also. The pack also doubles a two/ three day pack for bivy jobs.
Do any of you guys that use a hanger and sticks prefer these as your mobile setup over a climber? If so, why?
Not much of a comparison really. If I want to hunt a specific spot I can climb any tree around with my hang on and sticks. I used to find a spot and not be able to hunt it due to lack of a perfect tree. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk
I agree 100%, especially with the trees where I hunt. I can hang my LWs on just about any tree that will support me.
Looks good. I've toyed with getting a bowbat for a couple season. I just don't do enough running and gunning. Problem is, I still have all the camera gear to haul in and out so I would need an additional pack anyways.
I've used a game plan bowbat for 2 years and i love it. I carry everything i need in it to my stand. Extra jackets & pants. It has more pockets for crap then i have crap to put in it. One of the best pieces of hunting gear i have ever bought
Figures I just now see your post after I picked up the Bow Bat a few weeks ago and tried the same setup with it and my LW stand....lol. I was about to make a post showing how well it worked out, but ya beat me to the punch Fitz!
