When you guys talk about scrapes are you talking about on a tree or on the ground? Have you found one to work better then the other?
Also what is the shortest amount of time you have seen a mature buck come check it out?

    Spoon33,

    Just for some clarification.

When bucks paw at the ground, and create a spot of bare earth, that is called a "scrape".
When they rub their antlers on a tree, thus scratching up the tree and shredding its bark; that is called a "Rub".

So in this thread we are talking about humans tearing up the ground to make it look like a buck pawed at the ground. We also add some type of scent to the "licking branch" which is found hanging above the scrape.

    Hope that clears things up.

I myself have made both mock-scrapes and mock-rubs, with very good success. I have found that at my mock scrapes, I get both bucks and does visiting it. However for my mock-rubs, I tend to get mostly bucks only. But bucks seem to visit the mock scrapes more often.

I've had deer investigate my mock scrapes within 15 minutes of me making them, but usually it takes an hour or so. Just depends on how quiet I was sneaking in and out of the area.
