Hey just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your tips and info on this site. Just took my first deer this morning. It was in San Benito County, CA Zone A south on private property. 20 yard shot, he ran about 20 more and collapsed. It was an amazing feeling. Still amped up 5 hours later. He's gonna taste good.

Yep it's a black tail. That's all we got here. Sorry for posting it in the whitetail section, but that's the best I found.

Don't worry about what section it's in! After my first deer I would have put a thread in every section l, even the water cooler! Congrats!

I'm not worried about where it was posted. Just trying to insert a small bit of humor.

Thanks. It was probably just beginners luck. He walked to me so that was nice especially because I spent all day yesterday humping all over a barren wasteland of a wildlife area only to see one pile of droppings and no other sign of life. I'm sure my next 10 deer will all be little 3 pointers.
