I thought I would do something special for the 1000. Here is my season in a nut shell. It started in Colorado on a unsuccesfull elk hunt but a great hunt. We had a bunch of bulls in range and shots were fired. The only bone I brought home from that trip Then it was back to Wisconsin, where I hunted in the cdw zone and not my property up in Black River Falls. This was the first year in 15 years I didn't plan to bowhunt there.I was invited to go to Bayfield WI on a trophy hunt but more on that later. In October I first connected on a doe to get my buck tag. Then it was off to the youth hunt with my daughter. It was the first year she was able to hunt under the new mentorer program. She had a shot late on the last day, the weather was terrible. Then it was back to Southern Wisconsin to try and fill my earn a buck tag. I went out on a Sunday afternoon late October I rattled in a buck that would have been in the 170's but as fate would have it the people on the neighboring property decided it was the perfect time to go throw rocks in the pond. Say good bye to that buck. November comes and I'm on my way to Bayfield with high hopes. After 5 days of hunting I had 2 encounters with mature bucks. The first 1 was broke up and the second 1 some Tresspasser decided it was time to go and boogered up my hunt when the buck was coming in. Sunrise on my last morning in Bayfield A week later Wisconsin gun season is here. After an uneventfull opening weekend I took my daughter back up to try for her first again. She made an awesome shot on this doe and is the highlight of my year. The 2009 season isn't over yet and I do plan on hunting some more but it gets tougher after the gun season.I'll post what if I get something but I'm not holding my breath.
Nice post!! Its awesome to see the enthusiasm of a young hunter isn't it. Sounds like you had a great season!
