Looking at getting some muzzys. My question is 3 blade or 4 blade ? I want the better flying one . I'm not worried about penation.
I shoot Easton 2514 aluminum arrows that carry a lot of energy thats why i'm not worried about penation, my arrows will get the job done when they get there. I believe in accuracy over speed.
I just bought some MX-3 100 grains last week. Killed a 2 1/2 year old with it last night. Not a real big animal but the shot was a bit forward, and I had a complete pass through and the animal went 30 yards and died. I was happy with the results. Flies pretty true out to 40 yards
I bought the 4 blade 100 grains by mistake / Thought i bouight the 3 blades & They fly straight... Just like with every multi piece broadhead - You have to make sure you screw them together as tight as you can or they will fly crooked !!!!!! TIGHTEN THEM UP
I must say the Montec G5's flew prefect .... Only problem was - Once they had damage / They were damaged & you could not replace a tip or a blade... Sharpening was a chore if the blades suffered damage & all my Montecs eventually became BH's for shooting grouse with.......
I see that you guys think MX-3's are the way to go and I understand paying the extra money for the better broadhead but I have one more question. Do you guys think I'll be alright with 100 gr's broadheads with my 2514's ?
3 blade, 100 grain what I'm using. three down so far with no problems. my buck last year buzzed a rib in half on each side of the rib cage before pounding its way into the ground. all this at 61 pounds. I'm sold.
Muzzy 3 blades are great, I read all reviews before buying anything, Muzzy 3 had the best review and they are super sharp and strong, just make sure you use the tool it comes with to tighten them as much as possible so nothing is loose.
Might want to consider using loc tite or something on the tip -- I noticed mine were somewhat loose last night & i tightened til my finger tips were white !!!haha just something to possibly look for
Magnus Stinger Two-Blade...lifetime warranty, penetration and excellent flight. A Heavy arrow alone does not mean penetration (although it does help).
I am going to have to do that - had my bow in the trunk of my rental car last week when I was traveling, lost the tip off one of my Muzzy's and it fell apart. Luckily it fell into the case and I was able to retrieve it all. I had used the wrench to tighten them down...
if you aint killed nuthin with the 4 blades then what will the 3 blade do for ya they dont come with a mail in rebate for a booner lol
^^^ What you mean ??? I thought all BH's offer that ........... Rages come with a money back policy if the deer dont have 12'' cuts & fall within 10 feet............
I shot the 4 blade and had great results with them. They fly straight and my buddy uses the 4 blade and has for as long as he has been bow hunting and they have always flew great with him. Ive switched to the new NAP Braxe broadhead and they fly great and other than not backbone tuff they leave a nasty wound.
I personally prefer more head weight than less to increase FOC especially if you're shooting a long shaft. I think that you'll find that the 125 will stabilize a bit better than the 100 as long as your spine can handle it (and with a 2514 I suspect it can!) The bear in my avatar fell to a 125 grain MX-3. The only thing I can say against them is that within a 6 pack there is always 1 or 2 that I couldn't get to balance or fly but heck, you get what you pay for and they're half as much as the upper end heads so no complaints really. Good Shooting!
