muzzy for me. I have been on the same ferules for 5-6 years now. I just keep buying replacement blades. they are only $9.99 for 6. not many places you can get 6 new heads for $10. but there are a lot of really good fixed heads out there. I am not a mechanical guy!!!! watch 95% of hunting videos, when they are shooting mechanicals pass through shots are very rare. the deer seems to always be running away with the arrow hanging out. and yes I understand it depends on gear. I shoot #53 out of my mission and pass through with fixed blades all the time. the other thing I do is practice with my broadheads only. I haven't shot a field point in 10yrs. I don't like practicing with something I'm not going to hunt with. but anyway my muzzys fly just fine.
You are right on the edge of enough KE to shoot the Chisel tip. I have shot them out of 65 pound bow with 360 grain arrow with no problem. I am now shooting a much faster bow at 62 pounds and 422 grain arrow at 28.25" draw and having great results with the Hypo. That being said, I would try a Muzzy Tocar, a couple of the Slick Tricks, buzzcuts, or Exodus with your set up.
Its funny everybodys so afraid of rage not opening. You just havnt seen the true picture. They open and thell go through a deer. Ive harvested 2 nice bucks and a doe using the chisel 2 blade for 2 years. One of em was a liver hit not alot of blood. Blades open, the doe heartshot, barely blood, found it and coyotes ate part of her and the blades open, and the other buck on the soft shoulder blade no blood, but found where he went down and the blades open. Its mostly shot displacement and its bowhunting
I do not thing it's being afraid of them not opening but having enough energy to push a big expandable through a deer or get enough penetration. Only time I've not gotten a pass through with a Rage was when deer was quartering away and arrow stuck in offside shoulder.
well with all the success with the rage not giving you any blood from the deer you shot would be enough to scare me away from the rage. what happen to the "gaping wound channel and huge blood trails" that they preach about in their tv commercials? mechanicals just take too much KE period!!! but use what you wish I guess.
That big blood trail would only be if its a double lung. but when you hamerage through shoulder blades, liver, and heart. Its not like youd expect. 1Soft Shoulder blade the blood clots from the arrow sticking in especially when its cold blood drys really fast, 2 liver the fat and intestines inside covers the wound so theres tiny drips of blood. 3 Heart shots the heart dies down and it stops blood from pumping out from the lungs. I cant blame broadheads for not working for me.
