Here is the best recipe that I have to this moment and love it! I would like to hear from any of you that decide to try it on what you thought! Thanks! Bacon Wrapped Deer Bites! 2 Cups Soy Sauce 1 Cup Brown Sugar 1 Cup Vinegar 1 Cup Pineapple Juice 4 Teaspoons Salt 1 Teaspoon Garlic Salt Bacon as needed Toothpicks as needed Directions Boil all ingredients in a pan then let simmer for 10 minutes. While marinade is cooling, cut meat into stew meat. Cut bacon into half pieces and wrap bacon around meat chunks. Put a tooth pick through the bacon/meat to hold bacon on. Then soak meat for at least 4 hours. Put the bites on tinfoil on the grill. After you cook meat, save the marinade by putting into container or zip lock bags and freeze. You can reuse the marinade again by boiling and starting from top of directions. Boil before every use! Here is what the starting meal looks like and the finished meal looks like!
dawg, I do the samething but just marinate the meat in honey and wrap with bacon and cook. I will have to try this one out!!Walt
those look really good, dangit now i'm hungry. i'll be making these for sure as soon as it's not -7 outside . grilling in the cold sucks, i put my grill away in the winter, sucks but i'm not standing out in the freezing cold to make food
Many people have mentioned the bacon wrapped method and swear by it. Now that I have a recipe to go by, I'm on it. I hope my keyboard doesn't short out from the drool.
Just put it this way! I posted this recipe on realtree.com forums and it was a hit with over 40 hits on it. I have yet to have someone say they dont like it. One hunter even got an anti hunter to eat some and they liked it. LOL That is awsome! I GUARANTEE that any of you that try this will not be disappointed!
Have a new batch of these great tasty bites sitting in the marinade getting ready for the grill! I will probably cook them up tomorrow and let them soak all night! Can not wait!
dawg, we have been cooking the bites very similar to this for about 3 yrs but we have been putting them on skewers and sometimes adding jalapeno peppers, green peppers or pineapple, vegetables etc ( no marinade though...we are trying this tonight!!). My question is when you cook them on the grill by putting them on the tin foil, roughly how long are you letting them cook? I am assuming you are turning them every so often as well? I use the "Roto-Bob" that I got from Cabelas that has 6 skewers you can turn evenly at once with 1 handle. I have never just laid them out on foil.
Looks great! I also think we need to have a recipe link added to the forums. I'll make this on Friday for the fam!
I tried them. They were good. Maybe I marinated them for 24 hours and they had a very strong soy taste to them. I think next time I won't marinate them as long or cut the venison into bigger pieces. Thanks for the recipe.
Marinating as we speak three more hours and the grill gets fired up!! The wife was not happy when I boiled the sauce pan over sigh!
