When you guys go hunting, what is the one thing you have to have that's just optional? Everyone has to have a bow and their arrows, and typically a stand, but what else dont you leave home without. For me its my pocket sized camera. I have one that's about 4 by 2 inches and fits nicely in my pocket. when I started out, I always was telling myself, man i wish I had a picture of this or that. Now I carry it with me most of the time.

Toilet paper. End of discussion. There WILL come a time where you'd give somebody your bow for a roll of TP.

Rangefinder, always try to have everything ranged after hanging stands but its easy to forget.

Also most of the things others have mentioned.

Binos.... It's an optional piece of equipment. It's also the one thing I won't leave the truck without.

I don't consider stuff like toilet paper, flashlight for tracking, or water optional, if you hunt any distance from home you need that stuff.

Last year it was probably my strap mount bow hanger. I've never hung my bow before, it always just sat in my lap (Pa public land so screw in mounts or hangers are illegal, so I never carried them). But I really liked having the bow up and out of the way for long sits.

    Rangefinder.

I don't want to ever find myself in a situation when I say "well I think that's about 30 yards". Not good enough. I want to know the yardage so I can have confidence in my shot.
