Bow, arrows, release, safety harness, tree stand, and thermacell! Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
The absolute essentials (bow, arrows, release, safety harness), water bottle. Im going to really cut down on all my chit this year.
Bow, release, pants, jacket, hat, boots, H2O, deer permit, knife, safety harness, cell phone, rope and butt wipes. I have stopped carrying a grunt tube and rattlin' bag because my recent experiences have had the opposite effect that what I was hoping.
X2 I tend to carry way too much stuff that just weighs me down...Bow, arrows, release, safety harness, water, snack, and my Thermocell
Sounds funny but my smartphone. Its got up to the date weather, dopplar radar, a camera, moon phases , and everything else i could need.
Bow, arrows, release, temperature appropriate camo, backpack with water bottle, small twig snippers, guttin' knife, rattle bag, grunt tube, phone and cover scent. Sounds like a lot but it never feels like too much and I usually use all of it. I leave my license and tag in my truck.
Never ever, ever ever wanna be without this! Especially in MS where most mornings start out a brisk 35-40(if you're lucky) and the evening end about 60-65 degrees.
Besides the usual (bow, arrows, release, safety harness) my normal gear is water and a snack (jerky) a fully charged cell phone battery, bino's, grunt call, butt cushion, and of course my RANGE FINDER
Besides the obvious stuff, I wouldn't be caught dead in the woods without my Badlands Monster pack. It has all the pockets I need and just enough room for all my gear. It fits my needs perfectly.
Aren't you required to have your license in your possession while hunting? I would think if a game warden happened upon you and asked to see your hunting license you were supposed to produce it 'on the spot'. I always make sure to have my license and tags with me at all times while hunting. I keep an old wallet just for that purpose. I leave it in my hunting clothes to make sure I don't walk off without it
I'm not sure what the rules state in KS, but in WI the permit needs to be visible on your body or backpack (warden clarified that for me last year!!). In IL my buddy and I were checked by a CPO on public land in 2010 and he wanted to see all licenses at that time (archery deer permit, hunting license and habitat stamp). That is strange that you could leave it in your vehicle. Interesting...
Aside from the obvious bow, arrows, release, etc. here's what I can't live without when I go to the field. - Binos. I don't know how I hunted for so many years without a good set of binoculars. I'm not sure they've directly helped me kill anything, but they have certainly allowed me to see more deer and observe more deer behavior that has effected when, where and how I hunt. - Rangefinder. The art of distance estimating is lost on me. I'm dead without my rangefinder. - Grunt call. While I don't use it often, getting caught in a situation where I don't have it and need it isn't fun. - Wind checker. I go through 5-6 of these little bottles a year. I'm a wind freak. - Safety Harness. I won't hunt out of an elevated stand without one. Of course I tend to take more than just these 5 things, but these are the ones I think are most important to the way I hunt.
