NFL? What's that? Just saw where the Game Commissioner's voted 4-3 in favor of a resolution to repeal the ban on Sunday hunting in PA. I'll still be in church at 9:40 every Sunday, but I know where I'll be before and then again in the evening.
That is great news for every one that hunts PA. That was one of the rules I hated the most when I lived out there.
Congrat's PA guys! It is about time!!! I do the same thing, Ben .. there has been a few times I went to church with a deer on my car or truck ... makes for a great conversation starter :D
I've been following this story for what seems like 3 months now. You PA boys will have to wait and see what your democratic house leader thinks of the bill. I hope you guys get it. What I still find strange about the story is that the organized farmers of the state are the most opposed to this measure.. but for the life of me no one will tell me why. Why?
Its coming, if Sunday hunting shows the potential for increased license sales (revenue) and increased commerce, you can bet we will have it !! If they do it this year, wonder if we will see the first day of the rifle season the Saturday after Thanksgiving instead of the Monday after ???
Politicians/Government officials would sleep with their own mother's to get an extra vote or in this case, $$$$$$. The recession is causing some nuts to be stomped, and the end result is people are willing to bend rather than break when it comes to ridiculous laws.
It sounds good but I'm not getting my hopes up. This state has so many people stuck in the mindset that Sundays are meant for church and relaxing...nothing more. These hunters won't agree with it simply because of religous views. Farmers seem to want Sunday as a day they don't have to worry about hunters on their land, not T9 mention there are hunters who don't want it because "the deer need a day of rest". These people have prevented it for years and will keep fighting it.
Not that he speaks for all farmers, but here is a quote from the FB Spokesperson: "We're opposed to any Sunday hunting, whether it be on (private) land or public land," he said. "Farmers are not anti-hunting. A lot of farmers hunt and allow their land to be hunted." He went on to say that many want Sunday to be a day of rest and to honor the sabbath, not to mention to give landowners a chance to utilize their land for their own interests. Bry, just like any legislation, it will need to be introduced (done), debated/discussed, possible scenarios presented to house members, etc. Then it will need to pass a House and Senate vote. I think it has a good chance to pass strictly from a revenue standpoint. Our state government has been battling a pretty decent deficit as of late, and while our pro-gas governor refuses to pass a severance tax on natural gas production, he's finding drastic ways to reduce that deficit through cutting various state funded programs. Any GENERATION of revenue should be a welcomed opportunity in this economic climate.
Now that gives a new meaning to giving thanks to our creator for giving us the oportuninty to harvest what he created. lol
This guy is a moron, LOL If it's your land, it's your choice who hunts on it. Hell I could give my land a 7 day rest if I wanted too. Having no hunting because of the "sabbath" is not Constitutional IMO. What about those who don't honor the Sabbath on Sunday? My inlaws believe the sabbath is Saturday. I really don't care when it is, I know hunting is resting to me, so why is this tool trying to stop me from resting on the sabbath? Sue this SOB
While I share everyone's elation that Sunday hunting may come, I do have certain reservation. My wife will NOT like to hear about this! LOL. Guess I won't be getting anything done in the fall anymore. Seriously though. Our deer get hammered enough as it is each year. A day to not harass them isn't a bad thing. I'll probably hunt the Sundays during the rut, but thats probably about it. AS for the farmers. Come on. If you don't want YOUR property hunted on Sundays. Put up signs around your ground saying "NO SUNDAY HUNTING". It's your land, you can manage it how you please.
