Hey guys, I'm a new member so this may have been asked. I am shooting a Hoyt Nitrum 34, 70#, 30.5" draw length with a Hoyt 5 pin micro adjustable sight. In sighting in this weekend and fine tuning out to 60 yards, I noticed that my pins are closer than a normal set up (I assume because of the speed of the bow). I am considering switching to a single pin sight. I feel like it may be less cluttered and easier to focus. I know it's personal preference, but I'm looking for some input from you guys that have used them, maybe switched from one to the other either way, hunting with both, etc... Any input and feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
A single pin is awesome. No clutter at all (super clear when looking through the pin). I have a bow with a single pin and a bow with 5 pin. The clutter doesn't bother me at all. The single pin is crazy with in between yardages (ex 32, 54, 57, etc). You will have to practice with not moving your pin out to a certain distance. Use your pin for 20 and 35 (whatever works) on quick circumstances. When you have time - you can dial to whatever yardage you want. Several guys mention this on this site. I like HHA. my son purchased a used one from someone on this site. He liked it and purchased a new one and I bought the site that he bought used. I like it, it works well.
I've hunted with both multi-pin and single, and I don't like the clutter of all the pins, so I've been a single pin guy for years. The only advice I would give, is be prepared. Meaning, if a deer spooks and your at full draw, you'll want to know how your arrow drops at different distances, if you don't want to chance letting down. I've never had a problem with this, but there's nothing wrong with being prepared for any situation. Good luck!
Thanks guys!!! I'm not as worried about spooking deer or game since I usually hunt from a blind or stand and in the woods most shots aren't over 25 yards... If it's a longer shot, say 50... I should have time to range and adjust a single pin
I'm switching to single dot I guess you can say for next year. Going with the truglo Range Rover pro. I've shot 3 pins my whole life but the last week I shot with the ranger rover pro and loved it.
5 pin guy here. I do a lot of stand/blind hunting but when I do still hunt, things often happen so fast that I don't have time to guess distance and guess how high to hold. I look right through the pins and don't find it cluttered.
Right now I'm sighted in and my groupings are tight. Like within 3" at 60yds. I haven't tried the single pin yet. After the sight in I do find it a hair cluttered. idk... The TruGlo looks great, also the FUSE Helix, and the HHA look phenomenal, but I don't want to drop 300+ just yet on a single pin.
Same for me. I've tride several different pin configurations ranging from one to 5 and I always come back to three pin set up.
Look around. I've seen some crazy prices for it. Like $250. Then I've seen them as low as $165. I love it personally. Can really focus that dot on a single spot and hit pin point accuracy. I'm glad I made the switch.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00QE...+rover+pro&dpPl=1&dpID=41XvAajNDoL&ref=plSrch Amazon for $155. Can't beat that.
Adjusting isn't an issue. I first found out about the APEX version of this sight and that was a major issue trying to get yardage adjusted but with the truglo it's set back towards you further and I have 0 issues with it.
I bought the TruGlo Range Rover Pro... my archery range had it for 180. I'd rather give them the business. I'm so stoked. Can't wait to use it
It is... I agree. I showed them the Amazon price and they're a tad higher, but for 10/15 bucks, I'd rather give them the business
