Anybody have one or recommend it?

Put in for a mule deer tag with my OTC elk tag for the 2nd week of Sept in CO and the deer should still be in velvet. Would be an awesome mount but never seen one before.

I don't have any firsthand knowledge of them, but during one of my tangents looking things up around the net i saw some info on them. Sounded like extra work but I think they look awesome. I'm a big fan of European mounts anyway and think the velvet is sweet. Just my thoughts. A quick search comes up with a few pics

If you go that route make sure to freeze dry the velvet. I'd reccomend a taxidermist due to the skull cleaning. You need to be extra careful on the soft velvet.

Here is the one I killed in 2011. Most taxidermists are tanning the antlers now to preserve the velvet, as Krohboy states... you do have to be careful. You can also inject them with formaldehyde as well.

Wow! Great buck and beautiful mount.

Yeah thanks guys. I'm worried about the velvet and I would certainly have a taxidurmous do it.
    They are really cool looking.
