Duke I can tell you for fact now, the sticks are the real deal. I will give my fall write up Wednesday night. I spent two hours tonight climbing all the trees in my area, and all I can say is WOW. It was very simple and it was safe as well. I would not and will not leave these sticks out in the elements. The stand is another story, Muddy is a fitting name I can tell you this for a fact, the seat plain stinks. I cannot believe they used velcro. BIG mistake IMO, I am pretty much tossing the seat. It has no value to me at all for the way I want to use this stand. There are some other issues also, as you can see I put the sticks on different than they show. I do this because if you fold the seat up like they do, the seat adjuster scratches the hell out of the base of the stand. I will say I zipped up a tree and had the stand set with 4 sticks 16 ft of the ground in 18 mins 33 seconds. I barley made a peep. Muddy use a strap I can tighten down, put in some slits on the seat so I can use a buckle to hold the seat down. Your seat design is killing a pretty good design IMO. It's the little things like this that make a difference between great and just good.
The seat was the first thing I noticed when I saw the stands at the shows this winter. I'll be ordering the sticks, but will stick with my Ameristep Non-Typical Avenger stands. (Which still have crappy velcro for the seat.)
It's a killer Dan, in the big woods where you hunt and NLP of MI. I deer could here that thing slide 100 or so yards away. I will say the platform rocks, but the seat almost ruins the stand. I have a few idean and I think my Gorilla stand seat(with buckles) will fit on the stand. The sticks just plain Rock, I have never got up a tree so easy before.
I didn't even say anything about the stand.. but sat in one last year and know EXACTLY what you're talking about Germ.. with the seat. However.. I was told they were addressing that problem with the seat. I think the sticks are real cool... I do.. I just wonder what happens to a moving part after it sits out in winter.. moisture is not kind to moving parts.
All cam lock straps, or ratchet straps have moving parts to hold their rope/strap. Are you this skeptical of them? Muddy just choses to put theirs on the stand. Same concepts, different locations. I believe that Muddy's system is as strong if not stronger than any of the others. I have the new Muddy harness and sticks and I couldnt be more confident in them. I will be posting a review soon. Im using them w/ the loggy bayou predator pro. On a side note: I was told by Muddy that the stick holders for the harness should be available in 2 weeks.
Yes Matt they do. I may be in the minority here, but if you guys are planning on packing your stand in and out, why are you worried about the velcro on the seats? I've never once taken them off... and can't say that I can see a reason to
I guess my concern is shifting my weight while sitting down, and the velcro making that noise at the wrong time. I might cut mine off, and make the old lady sew some fabric straps with buttons or something.
Not on my climber? That seat is terrible though as well......lol. I'm gonna add one of the summit seats for this year like you did, mine ripped the first time I climbed with it and is hanging on by threads.........
I've spent upwards of 80 hours in this stand and haven't had a problem. You'll see when you get them that they're exactly the right size that you can cinch them down pretty tight. They also wrap around the frame of the seat in places that allow for a little play and puts no stress on the velcro. I think you'll be impressed when you get 'em :D Of course, you do have an official 'Ol' Lady' now and she probably needs something on her honey-do list as well. :D
Because the seat shifts and is not solid on the muddy. It's not fact I cannot get the seat set before I pack it in.
There is no way to get that damn seat set to the way I want it. There will always be a bit of play in it. I do not want any play in the seat.
