These have really caught my interest. I like the adjustability of the seats and platform and the light weights of them. Does anyone here have any experience with them? What are your thoughts?
I have a Loggy Bayou Predator Pro which is pretty much identical to the Muddy except for the seat and minus the lower strap. I got two of them on sale for $79.99...too good of a deal to pass up. This will be my first year using them but they seem like really nice stands (light, quiet, adjustable). I just hung one of them this past weekend. I like Lone Wolf more than any other brand (own two Alpha Hang On) but they have become very expensive. I'm glad I bought a couple of them before the latest price increases. But you can't go wrong with a Muddy either...very nice stands.
Just got mine last week with 6 climbing sticks. I haven't had a chance to test them out yet, but overall I'm very impressed with the quality and construction of everything. The whole set up weighs about 20 lbs and that is with all 6 sticks. I'll probably only use 5 most of the time.
Can you guys set up your sticks and really let us know how many feet you comfortably get out of them... Squash the speculation with some fact for us :D Measure it with a tape measure if you can rather than guess
Damn you are demanding. This is what I plan on doing. Wednesday after work I am going to the club and I am going to setup the stand and see how how I can get(safely) and how long it takes me. I am also going to judge how long it takes me and how quite I can be. Is there anything else you need to know?
I was planning on doing the same using my pull rope which is 25'. I have 10', 15', and 20' also marked on the rope because I like to know how high I am. I am also guessing it will have to do with how tall you are as to how much space you can put between sticks. Me being only 5'8" I won't be able to space them out as much as some guys.
As soon as I get mine in, which actually come to think of it I will be 3300 miles away when they arrive, um....if anyone is interested I can make a review around the first of September? In case anyone is interested in reading like a 5th review at that point.:D Like Buckeye, I am somewhat leary of how high you can really get with a set. I will have 6 sticks, which will be plenty but too many to carry honestly. Just splitting 3 sets between 2 of us.
I am curious how easy it is to pack/setup with 6 of them as well. I really need to be able to safely get 20' up, so I'd prefer a stick set that goes 22' or so so I can step off and onto the 20' platform. Now that I think about it, 6 of these muddy sticks with a 24" space between then will go 22'. I will still need 5 Lone Wolf's to get the same height................so it's probably pretty close in comparison in terms of bulkiness/ease of packing. The speed to setup the Muddy will probably outweigh having one less stick with the Lone Wolf.
I checked out there ladder stand as well, looks pretty sweet- may look into getting a couple next year
I know exactly how high I can get with my LW sticks. 2' to first step plus 2'8" plus 2' to next stick, 2'8" plus 2' to next stick, 2'8" plus 2' to stand that equals 16' to plat form. I usually pack 3 or 4 screw in steps and add 2' for each one. :D
You know.. I always avoid the Muddy conversations.. like the plague. I think they really are gonna be a huge hit.. and I think they have amazing potential... BUT... The sticks have a moving part in them.. the locking mech. which holds your rope in.. ya know? I have a Q.. just how well will this last after being in a tree for 6 months.. in the elements??? For now.. I'll just wait and see how the world around me reacts and how the sticks hold up in real world conditions. However.. I do greatly offer a quick warning to be careful trusting all your wait on that 1 little mechanism that holds the rope.. which ultimately holds your wait. I'm not saying they won't hold.. I'm just suggesting to be careful. But I do hope to see good reviews from these sticks... I'll just wait til they been out there awhile.
