English as a second language.I used to bust on a college friend who was Chinese. He was born in China and he took lot's of Chinese language classes as electives.I didn't think it was fair.He reminded me that I could take all the English classes I wanted to.I tried to explain to him that that was different.I couldn't convince myself much less him.

Todd, can you give us more details about the clip system? When it will be available? How much will it cost?

Todd, as the others asked I would like to see how you would do this as well, either thorugh a detailed explanation, video, or pictures. I already have the sticks and love them, but I can't get that high with just 4 sticks. Granted I'm shorter than most guys, but I'd like to get the most height out of them that I can, so your method would be a great help for me.

Ya, I don't think we're going to see that.

It would be in his best interest to say you can't, you need the extra two sticks. You know, sell up!

And LOL at buckeye, Germ etc.. :D

I believe this is how Todd is doing it! Taken from a earlier post by him.

Ok, for what it's worth, I've used LW sticks for around 10 years now, have a garage full of them. I designed the Muddy stick and currently have one of the only (4) packs in-existence. I've taken them out and screwed around with them plenty, and here is my opinion on heigth achieveable.

Based on a 20" gap in-between it would be like climbing a ladder into your stand. When using the Muddy's and LW's, I always put a pretty decent gap between. With the LW's, I would always use 4 sticks.

I am planning on using 4
Muddy sticks all the time. The big difference between the Muddy's and LW's is that you not only have two steps at each segment to use for your feet, but also for your hands. You can grab both sides of the stick when climbing between sticks. This allows you to get a far greater amount of leverage when pulling yourself up between sticks. Twice the pulling power. If you are in decent shape, 4 Muddy sticks will get you to 20 feet. I'm not a big fan of being over 20 feet up in a tree. If anything, I prefer to be 16-18 feet off the ground and rely on the effectiveness of my camo to do the rest. I got sick of shooting deer at sharp angles. I prefer being as close to eye level with them as possible, gives you the biggest target to aim at and allows for the most ethical shot angles. Many people go higher to try to avoid scent detection. In my experience, they nail you regardless of height mostly because of the scent you leave on the sticks going up the tree. This is just something that is unavoidable because of the oils our hands emit and constant scent you everywhere in the woods and on trees when you are getting into position.

If you follow the instructions and TMA requirements, you would have to hunt from the ground because they weren't written or created for the real world. Of-course, I can't instruct anyone how do do anything. So you "must" follow the instructions!

Todd, you are talking about the New Muddy Harness arn't you? I have the new harness and I can't seem to locate these clips you speak of.

He's not selling anything else to me. I already bought 6 sticks knowing I'd need them to get the height I want.:D

If Todd's recommendation is to follow the instructions there's no way in hell I'm getting to 20 feet with 4 sticks unless I put the first one at about 8 feet and pull myself up.

I like the idea of the steps; but they are just too small/short for my type of hunting. I carry 6 Lone Wolfs and almost always use 5-6 in every setup. I would have to carry 9-10 of the Muddys to get as high as I hunt, which means more time in attaching extra sticks to a tree instead of accomplishing it in less time with fewer sticks. I am 6'3" with a 36" inseam. Now for the stand, you will be glad it has a self leveling feature. I use the feature on my Lone Wolf Alpha quite often and would not own a hang on that didn't offer it as a choice. I am not crazy about the hollow tube construction and metal grate platform of the Muddys and the Lone Wolfs' solid cast, with nothing hollow, is definitely superior to the Muddy stand. Cold weather is where it may cause issues, as this is when I have found hollow tube stands to show their faults with noise. Here is an example of why you will like a self leveling stand...look at this tree.

Dude, you could elminate 1-2 sticks by spacing the sticks apart more than 12" between sticks???

Why do you set-up so high? I'm just curious because my typical set-up is between 15-18 feet, with a cameraman, and we get away with murder on a daily basis.

We do wear Predator camo which is the only reason I feel confident setting up that low, but just curious?

Believe me, If I could eliminate sticks, I would, as I don't carry them for the fun of it. It is commonly agreed on AT, that if you want to hunt 25-30 ft up, you need 5-6 sticks. I space them so they are safely used without extending beyond safe conditions. I am 6'3" and have a 35" inseam.
If you get away with murder at 15-18 ft, imagine what I get away with at my height. Not to mention my scent is harder to locate at a higher level than lower imo. I use predator camo too, as well as ASAT, and Skyline Horizen.

Here I am at 30 ft and a buck curled up 5 yds from my tree and sleeping. See my arrow in the pic? I still got busted by him as I was busy taking pics of this guy, chasing bucks away from a doe that he was tending. He stared me down from where he is for 5 solid minutes, decided I was part of the tree, and went back to sleeping and never looked at me again. I was just taking too many pics and moving too much trying to get pics of the action. The pics below are all from that day. That day, I had deer walking under me and around me all day. It was the most magical day I have ever seen. I was in the stand from sunrise to sunset and it was post rut.

According to Larry Kendall, Owner of Muddy Outdoors, the Clip system for the sticks is a separate item that is attached to the harness. It is in the final stages of testing and should be available for purchase in the next 2 weeks. It will attach on the waist of the harness using the small strap and buckle on the side that do nothing as of now.

What the hell I am an old man:eek: Just spend the extra cash and get a couple more sticks. These things take less than 30 sceonds to attached.

Is carrying two extra sticks really that big of deal? No deer is worth falling out of a tree.

Just got back from the woods, testing out my new muddy harness, sticks, along w/ a loggy predator stand (almost identical to muddys). Despite the 98 degree heat and the seed ticks I had a blast and loved the new gear.

The harness is very nice. I had a loggy bayou transformer before so I was very familiar w the muddy. Very lightweight and easy to use. I also used the linesman belt which i have never done before. It made me feel a lot safer setting up the sticks and didnt slow me down at all.

The sticks are amazing. Quiet, fast, and lightweight. I currently have 4, but will be ordering a 5th. Like Germ said, I seem to place them a comfortable distance apart and need a 5th to get to the height i like. 4 got me to an average of 16-17". 5 should get me to 19-20".

The stand was also a breeze to setup. I like the fact that it had a cam buckle and no ratchets. Made it much more quiet. Germ was right on about the seat rubbing and banging against the platform. A few pieces a foam tape from the hard ware store on the underside of the seat frame will fix this. I wasnt bothered at all by the velcro seat.

I timed myself going up and down the stand and didnt rush at all, Time started when i took the stand off my back and stopped when i hooked my safety harness and sat down in the stand. (NOTE: I did not have my bow w/ me)

Going up took 8 min. Went back down and had the stand back on my back in only 6 min. I was very impressed to say the least.
