As with anything in manfacturing, there are always things that could be added - improved, but at the end of the day you have got to keep costs down so you can actually sell a product, and make "some" money. Adding a second strap / rope to the bottom wouldn't be possible. The tightness of the rope / strap on these sticks is created through movement of the stick down the tree. The more movement, the tighter the rope gets, the more secure the fit to the tree is. A second strap would actually reduce the level of "tightness" that would occur on the tree. Why not a second rope / strap? With any design, simplicity and elimination of un-needed features / component parts is the key. Simple is king! 4 sticks can easily get me 20 foot off the ground. That's all I will be using this fall on any set-up! Anyone who thinks they need to be 25 feet off the ground to get away with a set-up needs to switch to Predator camo and not worry about being 100 ft. in the air!
You would have to place your sticks somewhere about 40" apart to get 20' up using 4 of these sticks. I'm around 6' tall with long legs, and can't pull that off. And that's only going to work if you want your platform level with the top of the last step, which isn't exactly the safest way to do things. Realistically, to safely use these sticks so that you can step off them onto your platform, around 20', with a 24" gap between them..........you need 6 of these.
According to Rick James statistics that would be very difficult, how about showing us with a little video? 20' with 4 sticks.
Todd I am now an old fart Here is the issue, and by my review I love these sticks. When talking about a height there is a distance that is reasonable I will set. I will do this with out even thinking about it. For me that distance is about 18-20'' apart. I have zero issues with having 6 sticks. It gives me a little play anyways. These things are so easy to setup an extra 1 or 2 is no big deal. If I made an effort with 5 sticks space at least 24'' a part I can get above 20ft. The issues is in the field is these reasonable ? In all honesty I will space them around 20'' apart. This is a good distance for me, again I love these sticks. I was showing them off at the hunting club, people were impressed. Nice job When guys talk about getting above 20 ft, they are talking about doing so with the distance between the sticks a resemble amount a pary. With gear on 18 to 20'' is it for me.
Solved the seat issue. I wrapped mole skin aroud the seat frame. I cut the velcro straps down a bit. No more noise, the noise is coming for where the straps wrap around the frame. The straps are to corse(sp?). Also where the seat adjuster pad is, be sure to clue that baby down with some super glue. Their glue is not worth diddle. I think I have the stand ready to go.
Rick, I basicly do the same thing but in a different fasion. I hang the 1st step from the ground then secure the rope around the sticks as if they were on the tree then place them over my head to hang across my back. I climb the 1st step with the 2nd step in my hand so there are only 2 hanging on eash side of my back. Some might think they will choke you but not so. I tie off my stand to my waist either thru a belt loop or to the harness itself. I tie my bow to the other side of my waist and make one trip up the tree and am on the plateform hanging hangers and what not in about 12-13 minutes.
The new harness will allow you to carry two sticks up on your waste through a clip system I designed. It allows you to set two sticks at the bottom, carry two on your waiste, and one in your hand. 5 sticks in a single trip! How do I get to 20 feet with 4 sticks? I can't instruct anyone how do do anything, TMA standards and specifications must be followed at all times while reading the instruction manual before each use!
