I like it, seven. I just got back from a 40min. ride. Heck, that's all I could stand.......and still make it up my driveway at the end! GREAT workout. I did a mix of trails and road. I also got the little cycle computer. It gives you all kinds of readings from your trip. I didn't look to see how far I rode (riding on the trails, it wasn't an issue). But I did see I got up to 26mph, once....lol. I'm betting I didn't do 7 mi., total, though. It's been a LONG time since I was on a bicycle. How long have they had gears that you didn't have to "search" between - to find the sweet spot? I'm not kidding. Now, all you do is click 'em....and you're in the gear you wanna be in (concentric?). Think I'm dating myself???? And the pants are an ass-saver. I got bibs.....and I'll probably go back and get a couple more pairs. They're awesome. Gonna try to do this 2X/wk......and see how it goes. Thanks for all of you guys help.
awesome, i'm gonna be pullin mine down from its hanger in about two weeks so my wife and I can ride together...
Josh - 20 miles? I'd need to book 3 days at the pace I'm goin'! Seven....I had Lisa stop by the shop on the way home and get fitted. She'll be getting an 18" 3500, by this weekend! I'm looking forward to riding w/ her!
You'll like the bike riding Jeff. That's how I got in shape fpr my elk hunt back in '05, and I have lots of hills near me. Jogging or walking was just hard on my joints. Paying the price for playing all the sports I did.
Thanks, John. I'm already feeling it! That 40min. jaunt hurt! Huntingson's post started me thinking (getting ready for elk). I can already tell it's gonna help. I'll try to mix in a ride 2X/wk......going a little further each time, 'til I can work up to a GOOD hour. I've got a few 4-5 day work trips coming in the next several months. I look at it as a way to see some scenery and stay in shape at the same time (in some really nice towns). I'll be in Miami in June....Charleston in July.....Wilmington in August.....etc.... I also rode through the parks system, today (the one I hunt adjacent to). I was really surprised at how quietly I could get through the trails. I may use the bike, this fall, to get to my hunting areas (beats the heck out of walking in the heat).
I've heard of guys doing this before, they also said It's quieter then they could walk and didn't sweat as bad. Not a bad Idea by the sounds of It.
We have an old railroad system called the New River Trail... It's awesome, the deer are nearly tame, I rode 14miles on my first ride last year and I thought I was gonna die...lol. and the trails were flat. :D I hope to get back out there this summer and ride some more.
i would really recommend getting into a nice roadbike. More opportunities to ride, and an addiction in its own right. i have a raleigh team. its awesome
