Looking at a Specialized Rockhopper......2007 Model

Guy says he bought it, thinking he was gonna ride it a lot. But, he didn't. He says he rode it 5-6 times (of any distance or longevity). It looks really nice. Seems to be the right size.

I can buy it for $300.

    ?????????

All I can say is that it is a nice bike! I have no idea on pricing though...If it's in really good shape I might think about it.

if it's a disc brake model I'd say its worth the price you're talkin... with standard rim brakes I think you might be lookin at a 'top dollar' price...

    Model?
    Components?

    Need more info.

And what does "seems to be the right size" mean? You need to ride that thing before you buy it.

I think it's a 19" frame. I've got the "posse" down here looking around. I don't wanna go overboard on this.....in case I don't like riding. But I don't wanna get a POS, either.

I may look at some hybrids.

I like that bike (3700). I'm checking a few places right now....to see what I can get one for.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

I've got an old, old Schwin that would put him in shape or give him a hernia. :) You pedal that around the block once and you know you've done something !!! Pedaling down a steep hill is a chore. Amazing the junk people leave behind when they sell you a house !!! LOL

Jeff I have a Raliegh hybrid and I love it. I even have a game cart set up as a trailer to tote a stand into the woods on public land. I was fortunate enough to get it free. I get tons of stuff free at work. Students move on and leave all manner of things behind. They sit in lost and found for 90 days and then are distributed to staff or charities. I'll often make a reasonable donation to a charity if I get an item so its not totally free but its close.

I'm about to donate a few $$ this AM.....lol. I'm donating mine to the bike shop, though. I'm gonna get the Trek 3700. Hopefully I do a couple rides a week......couple of hours.

    Thanks for your help, guys.

**Edit...I'll pick up my new Trek 3700 in a few hours. Hopefully, I'll get the intended results. Hell, I got tired, riding it around the building 2X!...lol.

IF that Trek has Aluminum Rims...I probably extruded them and did all the die work. (possibly even had a hand in design depending on the rim).

Nice Company been to thier Plant many times. They have the Bikes Lance won the Tour with hanging from the ceilings.

Doubt you'll find disappointement in a Trek!

The higher end bikes have mostly gone to composite wheels now, but they still use a lot of aluminum.

    Bob:

I doubt my new ride has aluminum RIMS. The frame is aluminum. Rims? I doubt it.

For you bikers.......how hard was it for you to get used to the clip-in pedals/shoes? I have fears of not being able to get my feet off the pedals and taking a bad spill.

I bought some bibs and a helmet, today (and a water bottle....lol). Hope to get started, tonight. I pick it up, this evening. Wish me luck!

Jeff, just like it is good practice to own two bows in case of malfunction of your primary bow, it is as well with bike ownership.....this should be your back up.

I'll keep that in mind, Brett.

Lisa's stopping by after work to look at one for herself. I hope she picks one like that!....lol

    Bob:

I was wrong. It does have alum. wheels.

Congrats on the new ride, Jeff. The clip in shoes and pedals were easy for me to get used to. I could get out of them very quickly if needed...and there was more than one time I needed to. :D
