There's a old 2 track that's been closed off for motor vehicles. I was thinking what about mtn bike in. I'll get to the deeper part of the state land and its a little swampy to the south of the trail. Me and the gf are gonna try a test run this weekend. Who else has done something like this?

Mtb bike in? as in mountain bike to a tree stand? I love cycling of all sorts but can't say I have done that.

I've been interested in trying that for a while, I just can't come up with a good way to pack a climber and my bow on a bike.

I used to take my Mtn. bike to Mississippi every year turkey hunting. It was perfect. I have done it a little around here but must admit to buying an electric golf cart to get to some of my stands. I know, I'm getting lazy, but its so quiet and easy!

I like that fitz how far did you ride to feel it necessary to have to ride in?

I am also planning on making a Mnt. Bike suited for hunting. It will hopefully knock 15-20 min off my ride in.

I actually sold my ATV for a 4 seater Golf Cart.. Nerf bars, Lift Kit, Front Bumper Brush Guard, Roof Rack, over 9,000 lumens of LED Lights, Rifle Rack, Oversized Tires, Torque Motor, and I spent 1/4 what my ATV cost.. And no more gas smell, no more loud approaches to the stand, it runs about 23 mph (LEO Radar from a friend).. Never been happier.. I know each has its own use, but I hunt 400 acres on a private lease and run around all day on a single charge.. A Mtn Bike would definately be my choice if It was a NO MOTOR situation.. Have used them in the past.. Great until you harvest a deer, then the ride back stinks.. LOL.. You can use the same rifle racks as ATV and mount them on the handle bars for your gun or bow..

I mentioned "Golf Cart" because alot of NO MOTOR areas (at least here) are speaking of GAS motors.. Meaning Golf Carts are allowed in some "NO MOTOR" areas.. Might want to check where you are at.. I rode a bike for 2 years in the woods til I was passed by a Golf Cart.. When I questioned him, he said " Well, I guess you did not ask the right questions".... I learned the hard way.. LOL

i wouldnt want to carry a bow, bag, etc and sweat the whole way in. i have ridden an electric bike a friend had, topped out at around 25. would think about that for state land if i was in the scenario.

Works great until someone sees you do it and decides to walk to where you bike too and try and mess with the area. I biked in well over 2 miles on an isolated no motor vehicle trail.

I haven't done it in years. It did work well, I had 2 baskets in back and also a ATV bow holder that went on the handle bars. It worked well.

Have used my mtn bike with my kid's trailer to get back into public land in both WI and IL. Tried bringing out a doe once on the trailer too. Momma did not like the blood stains on the trailer when I got home :tu:

Conditions aren't right for very long, but it's almost 2 miles across the lake. It was not necessary, but it's a heck of alot faster than walking and on those cool crisp mornings, I don't want to rip across on the snowmobile. Plus the smell of the exhaust. Same reasons I generally canoe over vs taking a boat or pontoon.

Ha another reason to get a goat. My best argument to get one is their the only animal that stomach can handle eating poison ivy.

The reason I wanna mtn bike in is to carry a deer out without making 4 trips especially if its over a mile in.

Id like to try it around my cabin since the trails around me are designated mtn bike trails so I think it would be pretty decent. I just have never had a good bike to do it. Branches and stuff could get annoying I would think
