*subscribed Thanks for keeping us updated. Hope you get it figured out. (Sounds like you will I think)
Put both covert cams out one with 4 batteries one with 8 placed about ten feet up in a tree one on top of the other watching over some corn. Probably wont get to them until Monday or Tuesday so pics should be up soon after.
I have a moultrie m80 and I ran just 4 batteries in it one time. But it was summer. I personally run all the batteries that the camera can fit. I have a Covert black 60 and run all the batteries in. My thoughts is the more power the camera can get the better.
Just went to check on the cams and came up on about 6 doe feeding on the corn so I let them be. ill get the cards out tomorrow right after work so I should be posting the pics tomorrow night. Haven't seen many deer lately so hopefully they were visiting at night also.
Did you notice a difference in the flash or the sensor while just running 4 instead of 8? And why in the summer ? Do the cams work better in the warm weather?
On that m80, I always seem to get the best pictures with the freshest batteries. Summer time batteries tend to last a little longer then the frigid temps here in Wisconsin. On that m80, I can get a month out of 8 rayovacs in the winter. Covert- havent ran it that much, but it will still beat any other camera out there for battery life, especially in the winter months. Not sure what is a good temp' the cameras work "best". I personally run my cameras from -15 to 90 degrees out. If could give advise, just keep the camera packed full of Rayovacs.
Glad I saw the comment about the plastic over the flash because I never noticed it on mine and actually looked for it when it arrived. Pat should have them slap a remove sticker on the plastic cover! Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
Ok so I had the cam with 8batteries directly above the one with 4batteries just about touching each other about ten feet of the ground. Also set up a primos ultra 35 on another tree at a slightly different angle but only about five yards apart. The one with 4 batt. Is first followed by the 8batt. And then by the primos I tried to match the times as close as possible in the sequence. All night pics from the 4 batt had weak flash but even the day pics appear darker than the 8 but had more pleasing color I thought the 8 day pics were a little over exposed or just brighter. The flash on the primos seemed brighter than both coverts but the pics were blurry and the day pics were overexposed. Both coverts had about an equal number of pics 696 and 690 while the primos only had 369 and on one occasion missed an entire sequence of about 30 photos that both coverts caught.
Also had all three cams set for 30 sec delay 3 shot burst and normal sensitivity. The coverts were set to 6mp while the primos is at 3mp
ya you can tell the different between the 4 batteries and 8 batteries. Thanks for posting/taking the time to do this.
Ah,finally, someone is honest enough to tear down the Emperor's New Gown. Now, let's patiently wait for the Dystocia of MP6 Black. Is anbody hearing heavy "Hush, Hush"?
Not quite sure what this is about but I was happy with the performance of the coverts. The dark photos were from a camera with only four batteries installed but the one with eight I thought were fine. The primos night photos were definitely brighter but they all appeared blurry. The biggest difference I saw was the fact that the coverts had almost twice as many photos as the primos and that is the most important factor to me. I was happy enough with the coverts that I ordered a red40. But I am new to all this so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Sorry I missed this one and yes those night photos could be better for sure. Feel free to PM me your name, address, and phone number and I will issue you a RA# to send it in for exchange or upgrade to another Red 40 as you will love that camera. Thanks Pat
Seriously? If your purpose on this board is to try to sell your brand of camera, which I assume to be the case because you always talk about how great they are, wouldn't that purpose be better served by posting pics from them and talking about the features and price-point rather than bashing another brand. Yes Pat works for Covert but I can't think of a single post where he went out of his way to bash another brand. For someone who is trying to sell something, you certainly have a strange way of doing it. Blessings.......Pastorjim
