Who else's mowing season ends October 1st?

I mow 4 different yards all spring and summer that equal about 9 acres. Once October 1st rolls around I call it quits and just worry about it next spring. Anyone else do this?

As you can tell, mowing grass isn't my forte. Its easy work, but I hate it. haha

It helps that opening day in Indiana is that day too.

My mowing season lasts that long Indiana. I mow a little less than an acre, twice a week. Not real fun. In my old house I would mow 2.5 acres or so twice a week. Really not fun.

My yard is 0.5 acres. I mow it once a week. I don't have a specific date that I stop, I just mow it till it stops growing...

I used to have to mow my parents 7 acre yard with a push mower every week as a kid. It took me all weekend. Then as soon as I left for college, Dad bought himself one of those huge industrial mowers. Bastard.

Anyone who hates to mow, and you have a significant amount to mow, I suggest you to invest in a Zero Turn. I bought one this year, and it's literally paying for its self. I mow 4 yards including my own and my grandparents. I bought it at the beginning of April and here at the end of May, I've got about 23 hours on it. If I was using a riding mower, you could triple that number and I would hate it.

I've got a good sized yard. About 6 acres of lawn. I also mow my neighbors lawn, she's 91 years old. Her yard Is right around 4 acres. I do this for nothing for her, she's a sweetheart of a lady. Actually I maintain everything for her If something needs fixing. It takes me about 6.5 hours to do both lawns combined, I bag all of the grass. From now till August when the heat hits I'll mow 1 to 2 times per week. It gets spendy. My other neighbor has beef cattle (whiteface). The fence (pasture) Is on the other side of the road from my house. I dump all of the cut grass In there, the cows absolutely love It!

I have a little over 2 acres of mowing, and after 2 years of mowing with a little rider, I can second Buckmaster's comments on the ZTR. Bought myself a Gravely ZTR, and I'm done in an hour then another 15-20 for trimming.Mowing season for me starts when it's growing, and stops when it stops growing.

I take it your mowing season doesn't include leaves. Those suckers come down for entirely too long. And.... I probably will be mowing after Oct 1 anyway.

I did until 2 years ago. None of the neighbors pick up theirs and they all seem to find there way into our yard and landscaping. It wasn't worth the trouble. Thats another reason why I just save it until the spring. One weekend and I can have it looking good.

In my mind it beats trying to keep up with them all fall.

I'm like most others here....mow the entire time the grass grows. I find mowing grass very therapeutic and it helps having a few beers in the process. When the leaves fall, I mow them bastards too. Do you know how hard it is to hold a beer and rake at the same time? :D

I maintain about 30-35 yards now, and we usually quit mid to late October, but that's usually leaf mulching time. Landscaping and lawncare really only takes about a 3 month break here.

I have a very small city lot that's not even worth running a gas mower for. So, my primary mower is a manual reel mower. But, if the grass gets too long, I use a gas mower.
