I notice that it's very difficult for me to keep my bow still while shooting it. Is this normal? Is there always going to be some movement no matter what you do? Thanks in advance!

My experience is yes there will be at least some small amount of movement. I develop a system in how I acquire the target in relation to the movement and try to be consistent when I release the arrow. After a while you will develop a feel for it and it will become more natural and I try not to overanalyze it, just smooth and consistent. When I overanalyze I seem to always do something stupid like pull a shot.

Yes, it is normal. You'll always have a float. This came up in a recent thread and it's hard to beat what Rick James said.

Yes, very normal. I think Fitz gave some great information up there from Rick James.

However, I will also add - I was terrible with this when I first started. The husband made me hold the bow with just two fingers (thumb and index) and then take a deep breath. Once you exhale you should be relaxed and more steady. Focus and shoot.

My new bow has a sight that has a level on it. This has helped me more, too. When I was unsteady I was wobbly and tipping the bow - now with my level I can see that I'm upright exactly like needed. I don't check the level every shot, and doubt I'll do it when I have a deer in front of me, but it is helping when I practice.

some people are just jittery to start with. Me, I have issues after my 3rd beer with holding the pin steady. Otherwise it could be too much weight you're holding so exercise is the answer.

I put the same practices I've learned with rifle shooting to a bow. Controlled breathing lining up my shot as I'm coming on to where I want to hit I hold my breath and fire. My biggest enemy I find now is torquing my bow as a reflex response.

Just drink a bunch of coffee or Mt. Dew before you shoot.

All kidding aside I was gonna type something but Fitz pretty much covered it with RJ's info up there, good stuff.
