Well Fella's been a while since I logged on, Been a busy couple of months.

My family and I are officially moving to Gainesville Georgia. I have a great opportunity there, the kind you don't pass up.

So north Georgia help me out. Gonna need some places to check out, the Ockachoobie (SP?) National forest at 850,000 acres looks relatively close and there is plenty of public grounds in the Gainesville area.

Are Feral Pigs in the area?? I see it's 2 buck State..hmm gonna be fun starting from scratch.

Good luck with the move! My wife really would love to live there. I've heard nothing but great things about the state.

I would PM GAbowhunter (perhaps he will chime in as well.) He will be a good source to start with. Congrats on the move.

First off congrats on moving to the great state of Georgia. You are going to be about 2.5 hrs southeast of me. I live on the GA/TN state line. You've got a couple of WMAs in that area that shouldn't be too long of a drive. Wilson Shoals is over that way it is 2,800 acres. Also Lula Bridge is there, but I believe its only 500 or so acres and it surrounds a lake. Here's a link to WMAs in the Hall County region http://www.georgiawildlife.com/maps/hunting/region2

Congrats again on the move and good luck this season.

Good luck with the move and welcome to the south!! I am not in GA but, only about an hour from TN. Good luck with the new hunting grounds. I have heard there are some huge hogs there. Not sure what type of hogs they are but, I have seen pics and they were huge.

Welcome to Ga. I am about 1 hr. from gainsville. I got lucky and killed a mountain hog this year on Dawson Forest which is 45 min. to and hour. But most of the great hog hunting is in so. ga. but can be found all over Ga. But you do have Deer,Bear and hog and turkey all close to your area. awesome bass fishing also. when you moving??

Welcome to the South, Bob. GA is very similar to SC. There's lots of different types of hunting and species to hunt. I hope you like hunting pine trees! :P

Be prepared to hunt a majority of the season in the heat, not the cold. Good luck!

Yeah I hunt in short sleeves until late November in the afternoons. I didn't break out the coveralls until November. Mosquitoes will carry you out of your stand and harpoon you.
When you get down here (in the south) go to Bo jangles and get a sweet tea and a gravy biscuit for breakfast. lol

The heat is no joke that's for sure. I hunted opening day last season in 90 degree weather. I don't think I started layering clothes until Dec.
