So I am finally moving out of Boston to the burbs. Not going to far out of the city, but I found a gem of a property to rent on. The house I will be renting sits on 20 acres, is partially wooded, has an apple orchard, and is surrounded by a river. The surrounding properties are all high end homes with a decent amount of land for the area. The property is right outside of a pretty thickly settled town. Because the property I will be living on abuts a river, there are a lot of deer in a relatively small area. Best part was, my land lord tells me I can bow hunt before I even ask him. I am really fired up to move! Not only do I get to hunt another state on top of NH and KS, I extend my season by two weeks. As we were pulling out of the property after looking at it, I caught a glimpse of brown in a field next to the house. To my delight I saw two bucks, a doe, and a fawn feeding. I have attached some pictures I took of the bucks but they are crappy because it was on my cell phone. Both pretty good deer. It was meant to be!
Congrats!! That is awesome, I gave up city living for thr country. Nothing better!! Enjoy your fall season.
Wish I was having better luck with my suburban efforts. Seem like any decent looking patches are owned by 10-15 different people and I need to get permission from pretty much all of them or none of them will let me hunt. Makes things very tedious. A lot of people wouldn't care so much if there wasn't such a chance of an arrowed deer running into their yard and dying. Can't say I blame them. If i wasn't a hunter I'm sure I would want to see that or have big blood pool in my yard either. Anyway good luck sounds like you have a a hell of a setup.
suburban ma. can be awesome I currently live in the blue ridge mts. of s.w. virginia, but I grew up and hunted many years in eastern ma.sounds like you found a great spot!don't be surprised if you find an absolute monster on the property, but take special care not to scare him off before you even see him.try climbing stands.1st time in a tree or area Always takes em' by surprise!GOOD HUNTING
I congradgulate you , more for moving out of that ****hole city than for moving into what looks like a bowhunting paradise.
