    Hey everyone,
So this year I will be moving my bowhunting and medical talents from NY to Ohio (NE), Youngstown to be exact. I guess my real question is, do I search for permission on a farm nearby in the NE or do I make a salvageable drive south and look for property there? Is there still some nice whitetails in the NE? Im very unfamiliar with the state but one thing is for sure, I AM NOT AFRAID TO PUT IN THE WORK to find a spot. I'll hunt public land if I have to; but then I'm gonna have to sift out which public places are less crowded... which will be hard being that I'll be very busy in the surgery dept. and will only be able to focus on one piece of land at a time. As for commuting to a spot, I'll only be able to hunt weekends and a handful of afternoons so I can't be making a crazy drive south, but I'm open to suggestions. If the hunting is significantly better a short distance away, say no more haha So please, my fellow Ohio bowhunters, any advice you could give me for when I move there in August would be great! Thanks!

Go south, Youngstown is a dump and you won't find much hunting worth while there. There's a lot of fields and farms off state route 7 down in the New Waterford and Rogers area.

I don't like admitting it but it's the truth, unfortunately. I was born not far from there and still have family living all around the neighboring towns. They all say it has really gone down hill. The hunting off state route 7 about 30 minutes south should be good if you find a farmer or land to hunt, my family hunts the area and take some really nice deer. I can't think of any state game lands unless you venture over to PA.
