After the birds shut up this morning because hens had them by the dew bill.I decided to move my blind to a food plot with lots of fresh sign.Upon arrival came eye to eye with this dude. This a.m. I decided to carry the shot gun, guess it paid off this time.He weighed 16.5 lbs had a 10" beard and both spurs were7/8". First bird so now that the ice has been broken time to try it with the bow again but the birds have been acting really strange possibliy due to large numbers of coyotes. We're going to get after those suckers as soon as turkey season goes out.

good looking bird how old 2 or 3? you got any pics of the beard? is there any blonde streaks in it? i read that blonde streaks is an indication of lack of some type of nutrition in thier diet.would love to see more pics good bird my friend hope you can get one with the bow next time.
