Hmmmmmmm. ... that is the question.

I'm hunting secondary areas until the rut starts kicking in until I invade my main land (different lands all together). So I got access to hunt this 100 acre chunk of land. I looked at a topo and aerial and kinda pinpointed a spot that looked good to me. Grabbed a ladder stand and headed toward the spot that jumped out at me. I had to get this done in literally 2 hours. Did a real quick crash course scout of the area and picked a tree where there were 2 major creek crossings heading towards a bedding area with cut corn in front of me 40 yards away. Sits down in a little gully. Real cool spot actually.

Anyway... sat there 3 times saw 22 deer (3 2.5 year olds, 2 1.5year olds and the rest does) cross 80 yards upstream of where I was. Had 3 deer (2 little does and 1 1.5 year old 4 pointer) cross where I'm set up. I dread doing anything as far as disturbing during bow season. There are no climbable trees towards the other crossing.

This "secondary" spot has turned out to be looking like a pretty darn good location. I'm probably going to visit even after my honey hole invasion on my main land. Wondering if I should hold out where I am or head upstream a little.

P.s. I strolled up there one day after a morning hunt and where they cross looks half as beat up and used as the ones that I'm setup on

Maybe create a diversion like a down tree in the way of the other crossing so they head your way? ( remember I suck at deer hunting so anything I come up with is highly suspect!)

I would hold tight and hope if you see a deer upstream that you could call him in close enough for a shot. I don't like to disturb an area during hunting season. Next spring you could pick out a new spot and clear shooting lanes for next fall if you want to move your stand.

This makes me think that they're on to you?? I wouldn't move a ladder at this point, but if you could slip in and shoot from the ground like a ninja or pop up with a hang on, I'd give it a try. Of course, it's still early for aggressive moves IMO:rolleyes:... So I guess I'm really no help:D

That's what I was thinking but that's a lot of deer to be onto me. I did have the ninja idea lol. There is a giant blowdown half hanging over the creek with some growth on it. I considered scooting up that lol. It sits about 10-12 feet above the water with a lot of cover on it. What a cool way it would be to kill a deer.

I would stay put and hope that the rut makes the deer take a different path. If it doesnt work it gives you a good idea for next year
