Places I've been that I would consider: Nashville, TN Madison, WI Places I've never been but think I would like: Montana Colorado Idaho As of now it looks like I'll be moving from Louisiana to St Petersburg, FL later this summer.
We are just waiting for everything to fall in place to move to CO. Hopefully by the end of this year we will be on our way to Denver. Or just south in a town called Castle Rock. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
Man, we got a lot of puff, puff, passers on here I love Montana and Wyoming, but I just don't think I'd want the winters there. maybe Utah or New Mexico.
say within 1 hour of one of the 2 largest cities in that state...I understand that "metro" is a very relative term.
Stayin where I am. Good job good pay great area with only 35 to 40 min to any city. Plus I can hunt and fish in my back yard. Hutch
that and/or gun haters. I'm not leaving one kommunist kampground for another, even if one has better scenery than the other. Anyway, I originally posted this thread because I may actually have this opportunity (more or less) within the next year with at most a 13% decrease in gross income. Given than my property taxes here cost me almost that much per year, plus the current 6% state income tax, PLUS the 8-12% sales taxes in this area, I figure I'm actually coming out ahead no matter where I go (that I'd be willing to consider moving to, that is.) Keep them coming!
Idk the metro part throws me off. If I could also be given 25 acres on woods (no way I could afford it there on what I make), Id love to move back to Bucks county PA area though I guess. Miss it down there for sure. But realistically, I dont see a move back to there any time in my life, think Ill stay going where the gas/oil is to be found.
Good thing the speed limit is 80mph out here. My husband and I were talking today about how much money it would take for him to move to Huntsville, AL. where some jobs in the Freedom Group (Part of Remington and Montana Rifleman/DPMS/AAC/TAPCO/LAR/Para Arms are moving) So far, his work doesn't look like it will move but it would take A LOT of money to make us want to move from where we are now. What a difference from when we lived in IL.
Im a fan of the Cincinnati area. Also... Athens, ga (almost happened a few weeks ago? Atlanta, Ga Nashville Des Moines green bay
Highly considering Knoxville Tenn in a few years by the way, which I think I would be very happy with. Not sure its the top choice, but I think its a great one by my research so far and best for my career (if my next career step works the way I plan).
Duluth, MN. Absolutely beautiful city on Lake Superior. Great hiking & biking trails. Parks everywhere. 2 hours from the best that Northern MN & WI can offer. 2 hours from the Twin Cities if you need a bigger "Metro Area". If I had to leave Ely, moving back to Duluth would be top on my list. You can't be a sally about winter though.
At this point, I'm leaning towards: Michigan - plus side: native michigander, and still have lots of family there, cost of living (even lakefront property) is so low, 2A friendly, proximity to "my" sports teams, hunting is still pretty good, love the weekend vacation lifestyle down side: if buttholes had armpits, they would look and smell like Detroit, Lansing, Dearborn, and Flint. And I would have to work in Detroit, Lansing, Dearborn, and Flint SLC, Utah - upside: everything Christina said down side: I don't know a single person in the entire state. And the seafood sucks. Boise ID - upside/downside: pretty much everything that applies to UT. Not sure about the seafood, but it also probably sucks. Helena/Dillon, MT - upside: also pretty much everything that applies to UT (except the skiing not so good.) Some extended family in the area. down side: Meth. And some of that extended family is having meth problems. BRUTAL winters. Galveston or Corpus Christi, TX - upside: could afford to live on the Gulf. Jeep topless year round. Hunt, boat, fish year round. Golf year round (if I have time.) GREAT seafood. down side: Proximity to Mexico. 4 months of hellacious humidity. My dog would be miserable (he's jet black and sun+heat just sucks the life out of him.) No family w/in 2000 miles.
^^^ SLC actually has great seafood. Market Street Grill flies in fresh seafood daily. And If you geographically challenged SLC is a lot closer to the pacific and Alaska then the midwest. I.e Seafood arrives faster. I would move to SLC in a heartbeat. Have beem visiting every winter for 25 straight years at least 2-3 times a winter to ski. It has grown up and out a lot in that time, but its still awesome. Lots of personal freedom without a ton of libtards harping on what you can and cant do. In my opinion everywhere you listed but Helena is better the Illinois. Helena is too geographical located. Even from SLC you can be in Vegas in an easy 5-6 hour drive.
