Trying to get a hold of the guy with the pictures but went and talked to the landowner we hunt on today and he showed me a picture of 2 mountain lions. Turns out it was taken on the neighbors land about 150 yds straight behind one of my main stands. The mountain lions also made a meal out of the neighbors Llamas. Wasn't surprised at all to see the picture but it did surprise that there were 2 in the picture. I didn't think they really hung out together except during mating season. I know they pass through as there have been a lot of sitings in the last few years but I wouldn't think NE KS would really be a home range to any. Hopefully I can get a hold of a copy myself and I'll post it as soon as I can.
Yeah you wouldn't think of MN being home to too many mountain lions either, but on a couple of our farms we are starting to see them pretty often. Kinda nerve racking when the fellow family members have their kids outside playing and the kids run inside and tell their parents that theres a big cat sitting on the driveway. Their numbers keep growing thats for sure.
Think of it this way. Im only a few hours from you. Ive seen alot of tracks and what was their dinner. They are like any other animal. Just movi ng where the food is abundunt.
So it appears there are some other deer hunters in your area! Please do share the pics if you get them.
Most likely moved in from the Black Hills area in SD now that they have killed 80% of our elk and big horns.... enjoy.... :-)
I actually got an email from the Oklahoma department of wildlife this week stating that the male mountain lion that got ran over near OKC in November was born in South Dakota. That's a long ways to walk lol.
MOUNTAIN LION FACT SHEET By T. R. Mader, Research Director Mountain lions, also known as cougars, panthers, or pumas, are highly efficient predators. These cats have a wide range throughout the Western states, and populations are increasing. An individual cat's range depends on food availability. Thus, a range can vary from 10 to 370 square miles.
They are coming from PA and NY as we have tons of them here .... just look at all the E-mail pics we get!
I heard NY and Cal. Cougars will attack your bank accounts upon divorce, separation, or if they just get bored. The only means to defend ones self is by prenuptial agreement or a bag of flour. As Kim Kardashian is repealed in full retreat.
We have lions right here in the east bay area California, they come into peoples back yards and eat their pets. And there are lots of them on Mt Diablo which is right in the middle of the bay area.
