really dont know what to think of it... i can see both sides of the arguments..

Maybe its really a female Lion... like a real lion and the rest of the female hunting party passed through during the delay of the camera in between sets.

I'm gonna say it's a deer with something behind it that looks like a tail. Post up another photo from the same camera without the mystery animal and let's see if the "tail" is still there.

ya but look at the ears. It has black on the ears.

Art- you go investigate that spot where the photo was taken? If it was a fawn getting eating it would have some blood on the ground I would think, or some scuff marks.

    I say lion

I agree with all of this, and say you should investigate the area.

It looks like a mangy coyote to me. Looks like his ears are back and he's eating/sniffing on something.

I would look for tracks and other sign. Calf? Dog? Deer? Cougar? Coyote? Weeds?

Fitz, you crack me up with all the stuff you do to photos! For those who think a lion will not move in mid-day in the open...wrong. My first sighting was at 1:30 pm in an open alfalfa field. I watched the lion sneak up on three whitetails for 30 minutes and I was in my truck sitting on the highway. Had another one sitting on a golf course 4 miles from the house watching cars go by on the interstate 150 yards away at 1 pm. Don't know what's in the pic but hope you can find out.

It is not a deer, look at the thickness of the legs. Def. a lion. Another one was just discovered with multiple sightings in a Chicago suburb here.

Wow, that's a tough one. I say definitely NOT a coyote, possibly a lion killing a fawn, but mostly likely just another deer :(

Until I saw the post with the alternating pics, I thought deer with a stick in the field behind it. But the tail moves between the two pics.

Looks like a lion to me.
