I got the new Moultrie Game Spy M-80XT trail cam last winter and first started using it in July of this year. It takes some great pictures and I haven't heard or seen anyone having any problems with theirs. But yesterday I took my cam down to scout out an area before the opener but it no longer works correctly. When I turn it on the little dialog box lights up but nothing reads out. After awhile it goes dark like its turned off. It also doesnt turn on, off, or aim with its little switch. It only works on the setting I leave it on when I take the battery compartment out and put it back in. Its a great camera and everyone else seems to have no problems with it so I don't want to switch, I . Should I just call Basspro customer support where I got it from or Moultrie? Any help is much appreciated.
I share your problems. Unfortunately, I knew this would happen if I bought a cheaper camera. I usually stick to the trophy cams, but last year they were running a special on these mountrie cameras and I bought one...mistake. They go through batteries much quicker than any other camera I have, and I have went out several times and there were NO PICTURES on the camera when all my other cams had hundreds. I was just going to chalk it up as lesson learned (it works some of the time) and buy the more expensive cams from here on. If you get anywhere with them LET ME KNOW! Good luck!
I have never had any luck with Moultrie cameras. I doubt I ever buy another one. Sent from my pocket computer using Tapatalk
Ive had my M-80 that i got from my brother at christmas last year out for 5 months now without a problem. Takes great pics and good trigger speed. Just changed the batteries for first time because it wont be check for another month.
Check for software updates before you do anything. My M80 went through batteries in a few days. After the software update, no more problems. The update fixes other problems as well.
I had that same problem so i called them and they said to take the batteries and sd card out but leave the camera on, I did this over night and then put everything back together the next day and worked just fine and have not had a problem since. i currently have 3 of their cameras out of my 5 and i can’t complain too much at all with them so far. Only thing that would be a little nicer is a faster trigger speed but you’re not going to get much more unless u want to pay 300 and up, which idk about you but i don’t have that kind of money to just throw around. But there customer service was great when I called them; I would suggest calling them if that trick does not work.
I love the camera, it has great trigger speed and good quality pictures. The batteries lasted from late June and were still kicking when I took them out last night. I have no complaints, this is the first problem I have had with this camera. I'm going to try what coheley suggested and if that doesn't work I will give them a call.
Well, sounds like mixed reviews...I will try the reset option as recommended above. Thanks for the feedback!
hope it works for you, if not there customer service seems like it is good enough they will just have you send it back and they will send you a new one since its not that old
Just one of those things... I never hear anybody ever having issues with there Bushnelll Trophy cams and I have had 4 stop working for me in 2 years. Just bad luck I guess. My Moultrie's have worked great thus far (knock on wood) plus they're alittle cheaper than the Bushnell. Keep with it I think you just grabbed the one in 50 that's defected.
