A bit over 2000 yes. Ive had about 5 different cameras and none have come close to the number of pictures on a set of batteries. And i have yet to own or see a camera that takes 50,000 on one set of batteries, maybe reconyx can but i dont have $500 + dollars to spend on ONE unit. And now i invested in this- http://www.basspro.com/Wildgame-Inn...k-for-Scouting-Cameras/product/10206670/37371 This IMO this the best set up, for me atleast.
Thanks for proving my point that the Moultries are junk. An IR camera should take at least 10,000 pics on a set of 8 Duracell alkaline AA batteries and 50,000 on the lithium. No, you don't need to drop half a G note on a camera to get that many pictures. In my Covert Assasins I've gotten easily 10,000 pics from my alkaline batteries. Can't imagine what it would be like with lithium batteries. Heck, my white flash cameras are getting 5000 pics from a set of alkalines. I've had great luck with my Stealth Cams as well. Seriously, you got a lemon camera and you just wasted another $60 on an external battery pack. Not being a ****.....just cold hard facts.
I had a Moultrie M80 and it was the biggest POS camera I have ever owned. I now try to avoid Moultrie products all together now.
Well Im happy to see that youve found that something that works for you, I found something thats worked for me. Clearly not many have the same experience as me but after spending a ton of money and a bunch of other cameras that hardly last two weeks, Im relieved to find something that works, and I dont think i wasted $60 because after a years time, it will easily pay itself off, especially when I can use it with any camera. It looks like somebody didnt get the Christmas presents they asked for this year...
All I'm telling you is that if you think getting 2000 pics out of a set of lithium batteries is "working for you," then you either (a) have very little experience or (b) extremely low standards. When I was your age (18), Christmas presents mattered to me. Now, not so much. And I see you did think I was being a ****. Like I said earlier, just the cold hard facts young man and I'm sharing my years of trail camera experience with you.
Spending the money I did on other cameras definitely doesnt make me inexperienced, surely I havent tried every camera but once again, ive found something that is much better than recent cameras.
Really, that's great. But, I don't think you're listening. Your camera has something wrong with it if you're only getting 2000 pics from a set of Lithiums. You should be getting a lot more than that from a set of ALKALINES! Ask anyone who knows anything about trail cameras and they'll tell you the same thing I am.
Dan, I'll be getting aprox. 6000 pics this winter on my cuddecack IR. This is about avg for me. I use 4, D cell copper tops alkaline. I'll be changing out my batteries twice getting to 6000 pics. I have ran 4 cuddys for 7 years and have never gotten 10,000 pics on a set of batteries. The cold is very hard on them. Especially when it gets below zero.
Greg, I'm talking about the newer cameras that run 8 AA batteries. I had a Cuddeback Capture out last week and it lasted 131 pictures on a fresh set of 4 D batteries. The trail camera world has changed a bunch in the last two years and honestly, Cuddeback has fallen way behind the pack.
I bought one and it didn't even make it to the woods. I brought it back an hour after I got it home. It would turn on, but only would show a blank lit up screen. I couldn't press buttons to get it to do anything. Tried several sets of batteris. Maybe I got a dud, but I wasn't going to take my chances and bought a cam I knew would work.
Love mine! I agree with the decreased battery life when the temps dip below 30, but other than that it's a great cam, no issues for me. I'd buy another in a heartbeat!
On Lithium batteries, my M80 will last about 2 week in plotwatcher mode, taking a picture every 15 seconds for 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening. Thats 1,920 pictures a day for 2 weeks. That's 26,880 pictures, plus, whatever it takes at night using the IR flash. I have had it in standard trail cam mode, and pick up roughly 150 pictures a week and have had standard Duracells in since october, and still have 50% battery life showing on the camera. I have had experience w. several other trail cams, and these are far better than those. I had a stealth unit that took nice day pics, but the IR pics were crap. I quite working after about a month in the woods. The IR flash on the M80's blows most other cameras out of the water. With such a strong flash, I'm sure that does use up more battery. It only makes sense, but I'm still getting thousands of pictures on a set of standard batteries. Could I get more pictures on a set up batteries w. a different camera? Maybe, but probably not a camera that cost $100 like my M-80's did. Not sure I understand some peoples anger towards these cameras. Kinda funny to me. Someone posted on here that they heard they were discontinued. Could you post your source, because I have researched this, and cannot find any information to back up that claim.
My source is the Archery shop here in town and he heard it from the Moutrie rep that they discontinued the camera because of the returns. It's not the fact that we hate the M80 it's the Moultrie name itself. If you got lucky and got a good one Congrats and I am glad your happy with it :D
You sumed up everything for me, seems as if a lot of guys have beef with this camera, I find it to be great for me.
I called Moutrie, and their Customer Service Rep said that these are new model cameras, and they are not discontinued, nor are there any plans to be discontinued. He could be wrong, but that is what a rep directly from Moultrie told me.
I bought two of the M80's and sold both within two weeks. Flash is way too bright and scared my deer into the next county.
I won't be purchasing anymore Moultrie cameras unless something drastically changes. The night pics are always blurry if the object is not perfectly still. Not to mention the trigger speed is horrible. I switched to the Bushnell Trophy Cam Black LED and couldn't be happier. The extra $50 is worth it to me.
