I haven't had any trouble with mine and I have 5 Moultrie Cams. I even had some ants infiltrate one causing the screen to short out, but I wiped it out good, let it dry, and it started working again.
I just sent in 2 I40's that were covered under the 1 year warranty. Bought them here last August 9th. Those should be replaced. I have 1 other that is a few years old that should get a new LCD for free. I'll let you know when I get them back. Not bad customer service, but I think I'll try another brand when it comes time to replace them. I'd rather have them in the woods than in the shop. And the way it sounds this is an all too common problem.
Not my fault, you're the one selling the things. Don't you know somebody at the company. Get on the phone and pitch a *****. It sounds like this is a problem with those cameras that they need to take care of. I'll have to talk to those guys at the ATA Show next year. And bring my weapon with me.
John, how hard was it to convince them to just send you a new LCD screen? Any idea what info they'll need (besides name, ect)?
mine started out fine and after awhile, not taking night pictures, constantly changing batteries, ready too put an arrow through it one of these days!
If the unit is under warranty they will not send you the screen. But if it is no longer under warranty and you want to install it yourself you can do that. I guess you could do it on a new one also but the warranty would be voided.
wow u said it for me i came on here bragged about mine never going out and two days later its taking ir pictures in the day and not at night and day or night its taking pictures of deer but there bodies outlined and u cant see from their front shoulders up
My screen was recently going too...and all night pics blurry. Was worried because I bought at a discount from Farm & Home store as it was display model with no paperwork...took it back to them and they just handed me a new one in the box and said they'd deal with Moultrie...very impressed. My first I-40 was awesome and I recommended to everone - worked flawlessly for a couple years (only replaced batteries once)...then huge storm knocked it into a dry creek in a foot of water - DEAD. Got a second one and have to say it has not performed nearly as well, many empty pics, terrible infrared pics...but could have been a lemon being it was the display model...anxious to try the new replacement this weekend.
Thanks for the info. Just shot 'em an email Has anyone replaced their LCD screen themselves? If so, how hard was it?
Well Moultrie made good on my bad units. I had 3 brand new I40's sitting on my front porch this evening. I only had receipts for 2 of them but I sent in 3 and I got 3 new ones. Pretty good service and it took less than 2 weeks to get them. I just hope they have the LCD problem fixed.
The chances are the LCD screen issue is not going to be rectified unless you buy one of Moultrie's new models. The I-40 and I-60 have been discontinued so most of the new ones they are sending in place of the cameras with problems are refurbished. In most cases I believe the LCD screen goes bad because of moisture getting inside. So if anyone has a way of placing a moisture absorbing substance in the battery compartment that would probably work to cure the problem.
They never emailed me back, the LCD screen just showed up on my doorstep. Took me about 20 minutes to put it in. It would take about 5 mintues now that I know what I'm doing. It was pretty easy with clear instructions. The screen works like a charm
Just received an email from Moultrie and my I-40 is on its way back already. I have had the camera for at least two years. It has been hanging on a tree taking pictures for most of that time. No charge for a new LCD screen and to ge the camera working again. That is exceptional service.
Moultrie has the best customer service. Call them and they will let you know what you need to do to send it to them.
I run some I-40's for a nonresident landowner and 3 of the 4 had the screen go bad. Not sure what he did about it. I have a couple of the I-40's and they are still fine. But mine are not in the field nearly as much as his. I have swithched to the Scout Guard cameras and love them.
I received my I-40 back the other day. It now has a 1 year warranty on the lcd screen (only). Three weeks and back in business that is fast service for this time of year.
