I just recieved my new trail cam a couple days ago, I put new batteries in it and set everything up, when I go to auto to take pictures it goes through the delay and says ready, when it takes a picture it doesnt regester a picture taken and half way through the next delay it just shuts down. There were some mixed reviews on this model but most seemed good. I have read alot of posts on camera problems on this site and im hopeing that someone might know what to do. Moultrie's costomer service is a joke, there is no one to answer my call and they say send an e-mail but it could take 5 days to respond. I had a SteathCam and I had to send that one in 4 times till I just trashed it. Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance
Anytime a camera just shuts down for no reason, it usually indicates a serious problem. If you just got it, I wouldn't even fool around with contacting Moultrie, I'd just take it back where I got it. Hope you get it worked out. By the way, welcome to the forums. Blessings.....Pastorjim
Thanks for the welcome, ive been reading alot of posts on here for a few weeks now so I figured I would join, this is a great site. About the camera, I was thinking the same thing, I think im gonna send it back and get my $$$$ back, I was thinking of trying a new memory card first, the wife has 2 digital cameras that went to heck but after thinking about it we have been useing the same memory card in both cameras and thats the one I have in my trail cam. I hope it works, I have less than 3 weeks till season.
I just bought the same camera and had some small problems with it when I first took it out of the box. I then realized that no where does it tell you the proper way to put the SD card in so I tried flipping it around and it works great now. Good Luck!
Well I just bought a new card for it and it seems to be working now, after it does the delay it must go to a sleep mode which is fine but the only way to see how many pictures it took is by shutting down the camera and turning it back on. I had it set up in the house and it took 17 pictures the way it should so hopefully its fine now. Thanks for all the info and now im going to put this baby out next to my spring hole/mineral lick. I'll let you all know what I see. Thanks again for all the info, this site is awesome. I have been lurking around for a while now but im glad I joined. Mark
I just received the same camera and have not had any issues as of yet, I only had it 2 weeks. I have had an issue with the racks being blurred in the pics.I don't seem to have these same issues with my other cameras. I would like to know if you have the same problem or if maybe some thing is wrong with mine.I would like here if you do.Here are a few examples.
hound, I put the camera out yesterday, if I have time im gonna check it today just to make sure its working and i'll post some pics if it is.
Hound - We got one of the D55IR's this summer and have had the same issue with blur during IR pics. Kindof a bummer as this is our first IR cam and we were all excited about it. Looks like it does fine if they are still but any movement = blur. We have also noticed that the deer are usually looking right at the cam when it is in IR - don't know if it is making a noise or something? If anybody else has seen this please let me know. On a side note I got one of the flash D55's also and it has been working awesome! None of the above problems. Good luck out there!
i have had one of the D55-IR and have a few problems with it but it is all due to the operator. ie: sd card in backwards and some blurry pics but i have learned that if you can set the camera up so the deer are walking towards or away from the camera you get much better pics. The trigger speed is slow so if you have the animal walking across the field of view it tends to get a lot of empty pics or deer that are hard to judge their size. i have mine set up now where a trail takes a small turn and it is looking back down the trail so there is about 10yds of area for the camera to to wake up and take the pic. i hope this helps good luck and stick with it each camera is a bit different.
Thanks Well good to know that it is a typical problem but, back for us that have purchased them. Its not serious though. I have purchased 2 of the D50 flash 5.0 mp type and I thing the pictures from the 4.0 and 2.1 mp have clearer pictures.I also purchased a Remington shur Shot 6.0 and picture pretty good but the trigger speed is very slow. It only takes a picture about every 2 min even when it is set on every 30 sec.
Well I checked the camera after haveing out for about 12 hours and good news its working, I have a spot on my property that has a natural spring that the deer visit regularly so I put some minerals out a while back so I placed the trail cam there, 9 pictures of 1 doe and a small 6 point that might be a shooter in 2 years but it is working. Definetly kinda slow trigger speed but the pic's were clear both day and in IR mode so after a few times of checking the cam i'll know for sure how its working out for me.
