My dad has recently purchased a couple Moultrie D333 trail cams and is having trouble with them taking an astronomical amount of pictures. He's put them in several different locations thinking grass or tree branches were triggering the pictures but this hasn't helped. He has used several models of Moultrie cameras in the past and hasn't had much trouble with them at all. The problem more specifically is in 3 days, the camera will take over 2000 pics. (and no I meant to type two thousand).

He has tried several settings and nothing has fixed the problem. He's called Moultrie and they haven't offered much in the way of assistance. Anyone here used this camera and had a similar problem? Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

never heard of the D333. Is it one of the cheaper models? if so, sounds to me like a case of "you get what you pay for".

Since you said your dad has prior experience with trail cameras, I'm assuming he knows not to face the cameras south, or to have lots of grass/vegetation in front. Also, if it is over water or near an area like a bird feeder with tons of small birds setting it off.

I wouldn't say cheap. They are $100 each. To me it just seems like the model and something internally for some reason. We've had them in several different areas. Some have had some grass but other places have been completely bare. Birds have set them off in the past but we've always gotten a pic of the bird. These two cameras just seem to take a picture ever 30 seconds no matter what. You can fast forward through the pics and watch the shadows move like a time lapse video. Maybe just time to switch to a different camera or brand. Thanks!
