I had several but probably the most memorable was when I was sitting in a tree stand waiting on a big mule deer when a herd of 250 elk came up through the trees around me. Bulls bugling, cows calling... for 45 minutes. It was awesome!
my first Bull Elk with my boys in camp waiting for Dad to bring it back, it doesn't get much better as far as I'm concerned.
Mine favorite was watching my husband drop his first elk with single 660 yard shot. My second favorite was hanging out with all the yahoos at Will's elk/deer camp in Colorado.
Glad I could be apart of that camp! Wish I could go out there this year but I'm starting a new job in a week! I'll be back out 2016 and hope you can make it! Will's camp was the most memorable for me last year for sure! Favorite night had to have been the fried chicken and beer around the camp fire listening to Will talk about all the animals he has "blunted" lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My moment would definitely have to be shooting my first deer with a bow this season. It was my first season as a bow hunter and I got him on my fourth sit. I was devastated after I got busted drawing on my first sit with a bow on a nice 8 pt. I sat a different stand the following Friday and made a perfect shot on a nice 9 pt. To put in all in perspective, I've rifle hunted for 12 years and these were the two biggest bucks I've ever seen in the tree and I was able to harvest the bigger of the two! Just an overall great fall that hooked me on bow hunting for a lifetime. No doubt God was on my side this year.
Talk about making an entrance! Great way to start bowhunting! I bet that'll have you hooked for years to come! Congratulations on your awesome buck and great shot placement! Makes all that range time worth it when you see yourself make a shot like that! You getting him mounted?
My son's first deer! I was sitting in the blind with our 12 year old on his birthday as he arrowed his first Whitetail with his compound. All he wanted for his birthday was a doe for the freezer... and he got one! A very old Nanny with hardly any teeth whatsoever. God was good! Moment of impact shot taken from the Spypoint. Thank you Lumenok!
Getting to within 20 yds of an absolute monster buck for my neck of the woods He only gave me a full frontal shot so needless to say I didn't fling an arrow. He come in tearing up trees and sounding like a bull in a china shop. The entire encounter was seriously intense and makes me happy I am a bow hunter.
Easily the 10 pt I shot biggest buck for me yet bow or rifle not just haveing the opportunity to take him but all of the man hours I put in starting in mid summer when I spotted him and the 3 hours after I shot him dragging him out of a brier thicket by myself once I finally had him on the skinning rack I had time to get that good since of accomplishment
The most memorable moment for me was shooting two deer, one of which was best buck yet, and on public land to boot!
Great stories everyone! Mine would be the Buck I shot this year, before the season started I decided to start hunting more agressivly as far as calling and setting up near bedding areas instead of being more conservative and hunting the outskirts in the past, I hung a new set in between a hillside bedding thicket and and oak bottom. First sit in the stand was a mornin sit on 10/20/14 and 8:45 came around without seeing any deer and I was kinda bummed becuSe I had high hopes for this stand, but as we all know it's hunting so that's to be expected. I tried to make my own luck and grabbed my horns and did a small sequence followed by some grunts, no sooner I hung up the horns and had this wide 8 come storming down the hillside right at me, stopped him and 8 yds and the rest is history. It's Always nice when a new strategy and hunting style pays off. It's so great how every season you learn so much new stuff, that's why I love Bowhunting!
Taking my 4 year old turkey hunting...I enjoyed that moment either though we didn't see anything but still was one of the best moments in my life. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
