Do yourself a favor and look into http://www.beartooth-products.com/shop/vmchk/comb-raising-kits.html , since you don't have a monte carlo stock. They are very easy to install and raise your head up enough to look through the red dot comfortably. You'll like that red dot, i've had zero issues with mine.
Wow...that turned out great! I have the same gun. Can you still see/feel the checkering once the vinyl is on?
Straight from Mossy Oak: http://www.mossyoakgraphics.com/accessories/shotgun-mossy-oak-camo-gun-kit.html Finch, you can still feel the checkering slightly, but it doesn't show through unless you put your head down close.
Looks great. If you pattern it and the barrel warms up will the vinyl loosen its grip? Or, do you think it will hold fast?
I'm not sure. Logic would say it would, but it seemed that when I was heating it with the hair dryer to form it, it started to form a bit of a memory in spots that I had to rework often, so it's possible that if it does in fact heat up, it may not move/loosen much. We will find out shortly:D
I was hoping you'd say that. The checkering on my gun isn't in that great of shape and I wouldn't mind a bit if it was covered. I'll be holding onto this gun for life...it was a gift from my parents so I might copy you.
Patterned some today...doesn't like Winchester Supreme turkey loads...everyting else was sold out locally, so put an order in online. Good news is the barrel wrap is still good.
It's kind of expensive but try some Hevi-Shot....I think you'll be impressed. Last year I used the 3" Magnum Blend. I've gotten curious lately with how far I can shoot so today I had the wife pick me up some 3 1/2" Hevi-Shot Magnum Blend (5, 6, & 7 shot). Can't wait to dislocate my shoulder tomorrow. (In case you're wondering, that's with my 835...the 500 has been in retirement for a few years.)
