One more month until my first year bow hunting bow opener in MN. I wanted to know how people deal with the mosquitoes and other bugs while bow hunting. I am planning on picking up some thermal cells with earth scent but would like to ask if you guys use that or have other techniques. I don't want to get bitten by a gazillion mosquitoes! Any input would greatly help! Thanks!

That is exactly what I have used for several years now and will continue to use till something better comes out! Love my Thermocell!

I have never used it with the Earth Scents. Here in IL during the early season I have never had a deer bust me or get anxious near me when I have the ThermaCell on with the regular wafers.

It is a HUGE improvement over using bug sprays and uncomfortable netting suits, though!

Here in eastern NC we battalions trophy mosquitos. I have found that the Therma-cell to be very effective and one trick I found is to turn it on once you leave the truck then clip it to your belt cause it takes time to warm up and by the time you get to the stand it will be ready. Also, if you use a spray get one with a high DEET %. Deep Woods Off in the pump spray bottle is a good repellent but be careful with the repellent with higher DEER % cause if you get in on your hands it can melt the steering wheel in your truck or you watch face if plastic..

In the heat you'll want to wear thin gloves and cloths and I've found that wherever the cloth is tight against your skin the Mosquitos will bite though the fabric and get cha. Ie. Top of gloves and top of knees.
What I've done is used some of those iron on patches inside my gloves and inside my pants, just above my knees to add an added layer of thickness. Works great.
I'm also trying to use as little of the deet as possible.

We bought a thermacell for our patio this year, it works great! I'm definitely going to give it a try in the stand.

Thermacell it is! I've only used the regular wafers, but give the earth ones a try and let us know.

Agree with starting it when you leave the truck !!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing worse then sitting in the stand, trying to be quiet and...

"CLICK, CLICK, CLICK, CLICK........ " Trying to get it started. And when it does, it takes 5-10 minutes to really get hot and start working.......
