What is the best thing for those nasty blood sucker in the fall deer hunting/ I have be looking around and found a device called a Thermacell.. it portable and says it silent, but the thing that worrys me is the scent that it may give off. Does anyone have any opinions on what to use to control these pest but not give yourself away to the deer..

Thermacell is the best investment you could possibly make. Just go buy one and dont think about it anymore. Oh and buy some reloads for it while you are there. They are really a great product

Things are amazing. Look around and you can find them on sale, with double butane and extra packs for about $15. Great investment IMO.

No problem with the smell. I guarantee we all stink way worse to a deer than a T Cell and it works great.

X100 - thermacell is the shizz .. if you're worried about the scent, get the earth scent kind. either way it's the best thing since sliced bread!

They do keep the mosquitos away, but the knats not so much. They are a must have though.

They work very will IF you don't have any wind. If there is a decent breeze, it becomes less effective. It has no effect on knats or black flies.

I have a couple and will use them early season when the conditions are right, but I would recommend you also use Permethrin to pretreat your clothes. It is extremely effective against ticks, does a good job with mosquitos. They will not even land on the clothes.

i wont hunt with out my thermacell in the fall, Ive scared off deer before swating at those damn bugs. It works everytime for me. Make sure you hang it up wind from you for the best effects from it. Ive had no problems with gnats with mine, seems to get rid of everything.

    Thermacell are the ****z.
I own three but try to find the older model the to start button you flip from side to side. The new model with the turn switch to turn the butane on and off sucks. I twists on by itself very easy and will run down your butane before you ever use it. I went through three butane canisters before for I ever got to hunt with it. Now I use that one for the back yard or I don't put in the canister until I'm ready to walk to the stand.

Also check out Sawyer Permethrin. Kills tick and mosquito on contact. Made for the military.

    its sold everywhere. Ever Walmart.

I modified my gas pods and can refill them now. Pretty easy if you study them.

permethrin is a waste, they treat our uniforms with it and supposed to be good for like 60 washings, not true AT ALL.
