Where I used to hunt I killed and saw more in the mornings.

My new place seems to be better in the evenings, judging by the first year.

All depends what property I'm hunting. Some are better morning spots and some are better evening spots. I enjoy evening hunts better though. I like being out there when nature is waking up.

I like being in the woods better in the morning, something spiritual about being there when the sun comes up and the critters start moving around. But I've had better luck killing deer in the evenings.

I tend to spook more BIG deer at my place in the mornings. I love to hunt the mornings more, but I generally like both. I'm going to start focusing a lot more on hunting the late morning until dark from now on.

    i agree,
i like hunting mornings, idk the mood is just nice. waking up to the smell of coffee. and everyone packing there lunches anxious to get out. with the morning frost. and yes im lucky with my stand i have a perfect sunrise view in the mornings. but im also next to a swamp so in the evenings its really calming with all the frogs and critters in the background. but i still think i would rather hunt mornings than evenings.

but i do have better luck in the evenings tho.

I love hunting in the morning, but that's got nothing to do with deer kills, or sightings. I've been equally successful during the morning and evening......I just like being in a tree in the morning to watch the woods come alive.

I'll take evenings. Mornings are cool cause you get to watch the world wake up, but evenings produce and sunsets are nice too.

I hunted from 11-2 once last year, I new a couple of bucks were around my area, size
of hoof print and depth of print but I didn't see any on the morning hunts and just
a small six on the couple afternoon sits. I then decided to try a 11-2 sit for the
first time it got to be about noon and out came a young doe she mingled around for
about 15 minutes and know sign of the bucks, this was late december so I decided to take the doe.
The next day my son put out a trail cam,we left them out for 2 day and2 knights the bucks were coming at 8.30
and ii.30 am one was wide 8pt the other a 9 my question is do guys that hunt 11to 2 ever see any decent buck.
And if you do what month.THANKS

Last year I had only 2 all day sits. The first all day sit was Halloween, I saw one buck that was in the 130in range that was scent checking a ridge at 11:00. I did not see a deer the rest of the sit. My next all day sit was Nov. 7th, I saw a total of 12 deer that day. 2 bucks in the 130-140in range at 9:00. The third buck That I saw was the largest buck I saw last year and I saw him right at noon, he would have went in the upper 160s. He was chasing a doe.

I believe it is a hit or miss when hunting 11-2, but from what I saw last year sitting all day during the rut, is you never know. You are not going to shoot them sitting on the couch.
