Ohio State's director of compliance is reviewing at least 50 car sales to Buckeyes athletes and relatives to see if they met NCAA rules One car, a 2-year-old Chrysler 300 with fewer than 20,000 miles, was titled to then-sophomore defensive player Thaddeus Gibson in 2009. Documents show the purchase price as $0 Quarterback Terrelle Pryor's mother and brother also purchased cars from the dealerships. Kniffin and the owner of one of the dealerships he worked for, Jason Goss, have attended seven football games as guests of players, including the 2007 national championship game and the 2009 Fiesta Bowl. Buckeye this is getting worse for your boys.
Basketball also, same situation MI got into in Basketball in the late 90's. Took us over ten years to recover.
No big deal. This dealership even calls OSU compliance when he sells vehicles to tOSU student athletes. The vehicle sold to Gibson for $0 dollars he is still making payments on, he did not get it for free. The average price of cars that were sold was almost $12,000. We just lost a WR, Hoke suspended him today. He has a bit of a drinking problem. Stonum is the player.
Yeah, I read that earlier today. tough break for you guys. We are down a player also, Dorian Bell who has all the talent in the world, was suspended for the year for a third violation of the same team rule a few days ago. He would have been one of the starting linebackers this fall. Smoking pot is more important to him than his future, his teammates and his university I guess.
Pharaoh Brown is a good player. He was on OSU's radar but had yet to receive an offer. He is a good player, huge at 6' 7"for a DE.
"As Ohio State University and the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles continue separate investigations into athletes' automobile purchases, one mystery has been solved. BMV records show that former linebacker Thaddeus Gibson paid $13,700 for a 2007 Chrysler 300C that he bought from former Jack Maxton salesman Aaron Kniffin in June 2007. The Dispatch reported last week that the title to Gibson's car listed the purchase price as zero. Jack Maxton owner Jeff Mauk said he couldn't explain the reason. But a prior title on the vehicle obtained by The Dispatch yesterday shows that the car with 13,760 miles was purchased on June 27, 2007, and financed through Huntington National Bank. The title without a purchase price was issued on March 6, 2008, with Huntington still listed as the lender."
