I shoot with a Scott release and I like it a lot. I was told by the guy at our local pro-shop that the piece between the wrist strap and the head/release itself should be short. He said it should feel 'stupid short' so that it's not too far out of reach when I shoot. I was shooting with a friend today and noticed that the 'neck' on his release was so long he had to stretch his finger to reach the trigger. Mine comes to right at the first knuckle above my palm (picture attached) and this puts it just perfect for me when I shoot. How long does anyone else make theirs? I tried shooting with the friend's release and I couldn't even reach the trigger. I'm curious if anyone else uses a long 'neck' on their release or how everyone else shoots!
That could very well be me in that pic you posted. I shoot a Scott Caliper for hunting and have it set just like you do. Having your release too long leads to creep.
That's what I thought. Like I said, when I shot with my friend's release that was so stinking long I was throwing arrows all over the target. Talk about uncomfortable and awkward!
i would think you would not want your release trigger so far out that you have to reach for it. That would make you slap the trigger. I have my release just like you do. short.
That's what the guy at the pro-shop here told my buddy with the long release. He mentioned my friend needed to take his time on his shots and not slap the trigger like he was! He said more time on the trigger might help his grouping!
The way I was shown / told is that you want to make a circle with your index finger and your thumb around the trigger without setting it off.
Looks a tad short for me... how far does it pull forward when you are drawing your string. Mine falls just about like a rifle trigger.
It falls right under my finger when I draw my string. It ends up in a comfortable position. Anything longer and I'd be stretching to get to it and would end up slapping the trigger.
