You wanna hear something sick? I've logged over 300 hours in the woods already this year. Scouting. That's totally effing crazy and slightly embarrassing. It's a sickness. It really is. I figure I covered about 100-150 miles this shed season. 22 sheds and 1 demolished pair of boots. All that effort, and I still haven't sighted my bow in yet. 20 shots out of the bow last month - all in one session, just to make sure my new string is functioning properly. Hell, my rest is out of tune, and my arrows are fish-tailing like dolphins. And I couldn't care less. Seriously, why practice? I've been bowhunting for 16 years. I know how to shoot a bow. I'll sight it in once I pick up a couple packs of broadheads. Probably the week before the season comes in. Some people would say that's irresponsible. I'd say that's just a waste of time. When the time comes, I'll swing through the local Gander Mountain and pick six broadheads. Whatever's on sale will be ok. They're all the same, really. I think it's amazing when people soak 100 hours/year into shooting a bow, then bow season comes, and they can't find a goddamn deer. Well, no chit. You wasted your whole offseason shooting at foam dots instead of pinning down a handful of reliable deer stands. But I'm a greedy bastard. I hope everybody else fails and quits. More for me. Ya know? Honestly, the hard part is finding a deer, right? Shooting it is the easy part. I never could figure out why people waste so much of their time and assets, worrying about their gear. If you jackasses would put down the Cabela's catalog long enough to get out in the woods and look around, your pockets wouldn't be stuffed with empty deer tags. Not hatin'. Just sayin'.
I shoot for fun mostly but I hope to be at your level someday as far as having the confidence that my arrow will always hit its mark. It must be a ninja thing.( LOL) Props on the scouting. Ive done quite a bit this year but the seed ticks around here are like vampires.
Really? If you last statement is true Jeff, that's saying something. Congrats. 20 yards, the fate of the world relys on you putting one in the ten ring you'd rather have your trad than your old Ally? Cool for you man. Oh ya...and King, you attitude is unconventional, but your results are undeniable. Can't wait to see what you lay down this year after that scouting.
Hey Fran, what are you going to do when everyone finds out you actually spend all of your time playing World of Warcraft and then spend your big lawyer money to go shoot a deer from a pen? Haha, I bet they'll be pissed. Oh crap, I didn't send this as a pm.
You gotta compose all this stuff in a book. Or better yet, give me permission to compose it all for you & pay me for it:D
Didn't mean it the way it came across......just wondered where you were....the caps on ANY made me think you were more confident in your trad than any previous compound setup, nothing more or nothing less.
Fran I agree with U 100% when it comes to shooting my compound. I posted a thread over in RJ titled "its just sick" meaning I practice my ass off all summer shooting my trad bows to be proficient and confident at 20 yards.. Pick up my compound for the first time and just KILL it from 20,30,40 yards .. every shot tight groups.. Its just sick how well a compound bow can preform these days for anyone that has consistent form and can focus on a spot and trip a release. I have always been one to PUT scouting and knowing exactly where a buck walks in the daylight before shooting my compound all summer. Dont get me wrong I like to shoot but ever since I took up trad bows MY compound shooting is amazingly accurate, I give all the credit to the focus that shooting my long/recurve bows has forced me to do. Even though the form is completely different the focus isnt. Amen to the statement U have to find the deer and know where they will walk before u can kill them. Great post ...LMAO you kill me fran! I agree with Rybo U need to put all your stuff in a book it would be very entertaining and quite frankly its quite FRANK!
