Agreed. Evolution happens. Some believe within animal types or species...others take it a step further and believe it creates animal types/species from another. I just can't logically bring myself to believe that evolution on a macro scale has happened or can happen as it makes no sense to me biologically. I don't draw a division between Religion and Science, I simply believe my religion is the perfect answer for all the gaps and question marks within science....
the God of Gaps I just find this line of thought to be taking the easy route. If we don't understand something, just simply use God to explain it. That just doesn't sit well with me.
Quite to the contrary for me. It isn't a God of Gaps. God explains everything. In our feeble attempt to understand all that he has created we are left with many gaps of parts we still haven't figured out. The gaps aren't filled by a fictitious god, the gaps are just our lack of knowledge of his creation. IMO of course.
My random comments if anyone cares. There is no way…. None……. that this world ended up the way it did by natural means. Yeah man lives in sin and we are doing our best to destroy god’s gift. But the world is pretty much a perfect place in its core. The animals breathe oxygen and expel co2. The plants breathe co2 and expel oxygen. Plants grow and use light from a firely ball in the sky that never seems to run out (yet) and their seeds are food for animals to eat. Animals eat the seeds for energy, poop on the ground create fertilizer for plants. These critical things that are so perfect can't be coincidence can it? These are two super simple examples. Clearly these alone do not provide actual evidence in my theory. Clearly this is not enough for some people to believe in something they can’t figure out. I guess that is probably part of the whole faith thing the bible talks about. But as I look around this world and analyze it I just can’t come up with any other conclusion than there is god that created this whole thing. There can be both a creator and evolution IMO. Why can only 1 of these be the case? Religion has many problems. I’m not sure what religion is right or wrong. They probably are all wrong to some degree to be honest. LOL. But I strongly believe something greater than we can understand created us.
That is why I asked for a definition. Adaptation is what most people envision when they insist evolution exists. Adaptation clearly exists... breed a lion with a tiger and you have a Liger... right? That is adaptation. Let animals with longer thicker fur move to an environment where they are more comfortable and breed with other like animals who are also thicker furred and more comfortable in that environment and they eventually begin passing along those traits. That is adaptation... not evolution. A reptile or fish or whatever becoming a mammal has not been observed. There have been attempts to prove such observances but every case so far has eventually been proven a hoax. Do you remember the archaeopteryx?
How about this for a Gap? Psalm 103:12 12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us
Adaptation, natural selection, speciation, genetic drift, mutation, etc are all precursors to evolution. Well of course not. We're not talking about something that happens over the course of a hundred years. More like millions of years. But it's not like scientist draw these conclusions without substantial experimentation and observation of evolution on a smaller scale. I just don't understand how people can't comprehend, that after mutation after mutation, adaptation after adaptation, genetic drift, etc over millions of years could produce a completely different higher classification. This is not an unreasonable conclusion. Yes, I do. And it has never been proven a hoax. Ever.
The reality is both sides are arguing essentially the same thing, faith in the unknown. The scientific side rests on proofs of theorems already tested and multitudes of theory that are unproven and some even hard to believe. The religious side is based on a book of historical documents. Yes, historical documents, there have been many parts of the bible that have been proven archaeologically and historically accurate. And yet large parts of the bible are unproven and again even hard to believe. Ultimately faith plays a major part of both sides. Most of the great scientific thinkers of history rode the fence on science vs. divinity because they came to realize that there aren't answers to every question. There are so many things in this universe that we will never begin to understand, human nature makes us want answers. We can lean on God or we can lean on science to fill that gap but ultimately it all comes down to faith in one or the other.
There is a long list of what can be either called hoaxes, or really bad handling of scientific evidences, if you prefer. We're talking about being able to observe science in order to accept it as fact. Lucy, Piltdown man, the Peppered Moth and others. I can accept there are findings we simply can't accurately understand... and there may be discoveries not yet made and I can also accept there are some over zealous creationists who refuse to deal with certainly realities. But you have got to at least admit there are plenty of over zealous "scientist," and when you read all about archaeopteryx, something is definitely "flighty." Other than adaptation, what evolution has been observed?
