No surprise to the title of this thread eh??? One of these times It sure would be nice to have a success story with me posing behind this buck that has 100% put the fire back Into my whitetail hunting. Well, there was no actual encounter this time but there sure should of been!! Last Friday the 4th I put up a new stand trying to edge a little closer to where I believe this buck Is bedding. I got It up and hunted It that evening and didn't see a thing. The next day on the 5th (Saturday) we had my g/f's side of the family over for Christmas being I'll be working Christmas day so the chances of me getting out for the evening hunt weren't to good. Funny thing Is Troy (Shed) texted me Saturday and asked If I was going hunting that day and I said nope and that I was doing the Christmas thing. Before you knew It time flew by and I wasn't able to get away and make It out In the woods that evening. I was a little bummed with the excitement of my new stand set up and also knowing I wasn't going to be able to hunt again until Wednesday or Thursday because I'd be hauling milk. Well today after the snow storm finally blew through I went and checked a few camera's and did a small little walk about to check things out with the fresh snow. Here's what I found on my trail camera on my new stand set up. Check the date out. Look In the top of the picture and find the black circle, that's my tree stand and the stand I would've been In Saturday evening. The stand Is about 12 yards directly south of the buck. Moral of the story Is- When Troy text's you and asked If your going hunting today you better get your ass out there!!! :D
Steve, I have an extra airplane ticket. Would you like to share that stand with me when you are hauling milk?:D Just kiddin bud. That dang deer has a death wish with you Steve. Stay on him.
You have 21 days left Steve. The good news is that gun season is essentially over and 1) he made it 2) he is still acitve during daylight hours 3) he is active by your stand 4) he should be in more of a feeding pattern now and more predictable 5) tick tock
That bites you in the ass doesn't it Steve. That's one of my fears with these new cameras I got. I'd hate to see a daylight picture of the buck I'm after IF I could have been there. :p
Yep, that one left a slight mark. Bobby, maybe you need to take the milk route for me so I can hunt more!! :D Bring that recurve on up!!!
Same thing happened to me last Sat., Dec 5th, when I decided to skip the morning hunt!! Sometimes I wish I didn't know!! This cam is 18 yards from my stand.
LOL... When the page first loaded up, all that was appearing was the title... not the user name of who created the post. I knew instantly though.
as much as it hurts...it's got to help with the motivation factor...keeps it fun! In my experience - a deer that's showing himself this much in one area...you will get your chance again...GOOD LUCK!
My thoughts exactly! I can't believe how many times you have either seen him or gotten him on cam this year. He's definitely hanging around, I hope the next time its both of you in the pic :D
LOL, sometimes ignorance is bliss. I guess you just gotta find a way to use as motivation. Those big ones have a knack for knowing when to show up and when to stay away. Good luck guys, keep after it.
