The way I read it, all they gave them was the hide. I would say that is a small price to pay to be welcome to come back and hunt again. Could be equated with giving a landowner a generous helping of backstraps.
Unless they were hunting on tribal land, then their culture really has no bearing. If they were hunting on tribal land, then it would have been their responsibility to protect the "white" animals by prohibiting their harvest as part of tribal law.
Let me be clear, it's THEIR culture not mine. I simple don't care, I paid to kill a moose and a moose will die. if he happens to be a white spirit moose, well I guess he got bad advice from his spirit brothers on where to walk that day.
Thatd be the most expensive mount I would ever have done....im guessing youve figured out I wouldve shot it and been super pumped about it....noone is ruining my day after a harvest like that Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
Who's crapping where? It's not even written into the game regs anywhere. Piss on the spirit moose protectors.
The spirit moose is thought to be one of their ancestors come back to warn them or tell them about future events to come. Basically. So eating the back straps of one of your re-incarnated ancestors wouldn't be good. At least I wouldn't think it would be good. http://www.grindtv.com/outdoor/excursions/post/hunters-spark-outrage-by-killing-white-spirit-moose/
When I was 8 or 9 the neighbor said the critters in front of our cabin(the woods) were pets. My grandfather shot a rabbit that died in his yard, went and picked it up and laughed. He said "pet's my ***, it's dinner"
Guess I'm in the minority. I find nothing wrong with giving the tribe the hide to keep the peace and hopefully make the next hunter welcome to hunt in the area. There is a big difference between shooting a white moose and upsetting an entire community and shooting a dime a dozen cottontail rabbit. To each their own though.
What if that rabbit was the Easter bunny? They do not own the land or the animals, I bet if they were starving the spirit moose would be on the table, LOL
I hope everyone who "could care less about native Americans' beliefs/culture" remember that when they start crying about how "christmas is under attack".
I am not trying to be funny, I am sick and tired of having to respect others customs, I simple do not care anymore. No one respects mine, in fact most of what I believe is under attack and on a whim dismissed when it bothers someone else. You killed our spirit moose, really? That is the stupidest custom I have heard. God forbid I say Merry Christmas in front of the wrong people. Tell you what spirit moose people, I am going to hunt moose and kill a spirit moose. I well than take the hide and make giant spirit rug. I will then make sweet love on the spirit moose rug with my wife and all spirit moose lovers can go pound sand.
