The Belgium monks have been making dark ales since the 1300s...

Well I really don't know how to answer your question as to whether or not it taste like "normal" beer.

If you are asking whether or not it taste like Bud Light, then no, it does not taste like water.

Just curious Is all. I don't like Bud either but If It's free I'm drinking It. Michelob guy myself when It comes to beer but prefer McMasters Whiskey/Coke over anything.

This one borders on being a Porter, which is why I like it so much. I initially thought it was a "Robust" Porter when I had it on tap while actually in Missoula, MT where it is brewed, but found that they classified it as a brown ale. It's got a blend of chocolate, caramel, and a mocha flavored hop to balance sweet with bitter, and bring a nice finish with little after taste. I'll drink a New Castle from time to time, but New Castle don't hold a candle to this stuff. Ironically, Leinenkuegel's Fireside Nut Brown was about as close to the the Moose Drool as I'd had in years, and I got one from Rob/PA year before last at the NE GTG, and that winter, I found it in our local liquor store, and have enjoyed it many times since, but the Moose Drool, is just a touch better on my palate at least....
