    Hey Guys,
In 1963 at 16 years old, I was a bowling pin spotter at the local Elks club earning $2.50- 3.00 3 x a week.
Had the catalog picture on the wall
of the Fred Bear Grizzly semi- recurve bow. Saved up & ordered from my local sport shop In June 63 ...& suggested I order a 42# pull which was good for my build, and more than adequate for hunting. The bow came in late July 63.
It was magnificent ...since my first bow was the $14.00 black fox with a white rubber handle. I paid $42.95 for this bow including tax. Practiced with a grass mass target, and hunted for several years. Been thru the military and began active target shooting for many more years. Off & on shooting
thought my life. This bow is still in pristine shape, and shoots unbelievable.
It is mode from African Zebrawood, with the dark brown fiberglass . Replaced the string several times, and can't get over how consistent and well
it shoots. Shot this so much that it has become an extension of me. Just like a great shotgun, or my 33 year old
Beretta 9mm. Over the years buffed out some light brush scratches, and looks like it just came out of the box. At 78 years old, when I pick this up, it's like memory reflex.
This truly is a greatly engineered and
a refined bow. OK... to all you guys who like the compounds, but I feel they took
the arch out of the sport. I' m old school,
but am a true fan of the semi- recurve.
Thank you Fred Bear for introducing me early on to on of the most enjoyable sports life.
