Has anyone done the Montana OTC bighorn sheep hunt? I have made up my mind to do it and have begun planning it. I am physically and mentally in shape and I'm just crazy enough to go for it, this is my dream hunt. Just trying to glean what little info I can before make the trip. Any shared experiences, tips, or advice would be greatly appreciated. -Tristan

I know it can be very difficult to compete with outfitters there. They just have more manhours put into knowing every move by those rams. But there are years no one gets a ram outfitter or not so it's not like they get em all. Definitely one of the toughest hunts out there. My opinion is if you don't have the the time to get out there and scout for a few days before season I would wait until you can. Knowing the mt and being able to judge rams is critical. Oh and buy top of the line glass you'll be spending a lot of time behind it. It is something I would like to try someday. Sent from iPhone
Easy to obtain bighorn sheep tags (Montana is the only state that has this) almost always equate with a difficult hunting situation.....either physically difficult, limited public land or low hunter success. My research into this hunt showed me that hunting in hell would be easier. Montana sells these tags for one reason only.....$$$$$. You best be a super athletic with billy goat feet. Mountaineering equipment is highly recommended. All three of the previously mentioned conditions apply here. Research some of the Montana hunting sites and ask questions on sheep hunting sites. I live where I can see bighorn sheep at my will. I would recommend that you take some personal time to visit the area in question and see what your getting into before dropping any hard earned money on a tag that a bowhunter has less than 1% chance of filling.
